After wrapping up her work and booking her flight to Gurphis, Brianna headed home to give Kendra a heads-

After everything that had happened, she figured it was the perfect chance to take a vacation before coming

back.

When she got home, Judy was playing a game with Kendra and Justin.

Brianna was surprised. ‘Why is Justin here? Margo and Brandon don’t get along, and Margo rarely let Justin spend time with Brandon. So why is he here now?‘

‘Does Brandon finally set Benedict free? Did the siblings patch things up?”

“Mommy!” Kendra spotted Brianna and ran over, her face lighting up. “Mommy, I missed you so much!”

Brianna ruffled Kendra’s hair, took her hand, and walked over to Justin with a smile. “Justin, when did you get here?”

Before Justin could answer, Kendra jumped in. “Justin’s been staying with us for two days. His parents are away on business, so Daddy brought him over to play with me.”

Justin wasn’t really used to being around Brianna, so he felt a little shy.

“Oh, really?” Brianna sat down on the carpet with them. “Do you like playing with me?”

Justin nodded and pushed the toys a little closer.

Even though she was about to leave, Brianna patiently played with the two kids for a long time.

It wasn’t until it was almost dark that Brandon got home, and James called everyone for dinner.

Brandon wasn’t expecting to see Brianna at home.

“You’re back?” he asked.

“Yeah,” Brianna said, her tone flat.

At the dinner table, Justin had already warmed up to Brianna, and the two kids were chatting up a storm.

Brianna would occasionally join in, making the vibe feel cozy and relaxed.

Brandon sat next to Brianna and, almost instinctively, leaned closer. “Kids sure make things lively, huh?”

Brianna glanced at him, catching the soft smile in his eyes as he watched the kids with genuine warmth.

‘What’s gotten into him now?‘ Brianna wondered, but kept quiet.

As dinner was winding down, she finally mentioned the reason she came home this time.

“I’m heading to Gurphis in a few days. I’ll be gone for about two weeks, or maybe twenty days,” Brianna said.

“I want to go too!” Kendra piped up.

“Me too!” Justin chimed in.

The two kids exchanged grins and burst out laughing.

“That long?” Brandon frowned, sounding a bit surprised.

“Yeah, I’ve got some work to handle, and thought I’d make it a bit of a holiday too,” Brianna explained.

“Mommy, I’m going with you,” Kendra insisted, repeating herself.

“Auntie, I’m going with you too,” Justin said, following Kendra’s lead.

The two kids glanced at each other and started giggling again.

“Next time, your dad can take you guys,” Brianna said.

“No, I want you to take me, Mommy,” Kendra pouted, acting all cute.

“Mommy has to work, so I won’t really have time to take care of you.”

“I can play by myself, or hang out with Justin,” Kendra pleaded, clearly wanting to tag along with Brianna.

Being stuck at home during break was so dull, and she just wanted to be with her mother more.

Brianna barely hesitated. “Maybe next time.”

“Mommy,” Kendra pouted, sounding really aggrieved. “You always say ‘next time,‘ but when is that, really?”

Brianna was momentarily speechless.

“Go ahead and take her with you. I’ll be heading to Drokvine for work in a few days, so I can pick her up bring her home then,” Brandon said.

With Brandon saying that, and seeing the hurt in Kendra’s eyes, Brianna couldn’t find any reason to refuse

anymore.

“I want to go too, Uncle Brandon,” Justin said, pouting.

“Your mom will be back the day after tomorrow. If she agrees, I’ll take you then, okay?”

Brandon was just as gentle with his nephew as he was with Kendra.

Their disappointment disappeared just like that, and the two kids were soon goofing off and making a racket again.

After dinner, Brianna helped the kids with their homework and played with them until almost ten, finally tucking them in and soothing them to sleep.

She quietly closed the door behind her and headed to the guest room to wash up.

As she washed up, she found herself humming a cheerful tune without even realizing it, feeling surprisingly lighthearted.

Seeing the unconscious smile on her lips in the mirror, Brianna laughed at herself. ‘Turns out just hanging out with the kids every now and then really does bring me joy, she thought.

After washing up, Brianna was stretched out on the bed with a book when Brandon gave the door a knock and came right in.

Brianna looked up, “What’s up?”

“What are you heading to Gurphis for?” Brandon asked, wearing black silk pajamas with a faint pattern and his glasses, as he came over and sat at the end of the bed.

“I’m working with Tevanni on their fall collection launch. I’ll be at the runway show for their latest designs,” Brianna replied.

She waited, knowing he wouldn’t show up at this hour just to ask about her trip to Gurphis. ‘He must have something else on his mind.”

“Oh,” Brandon nodded. “I heard you had Blanca committed to a mental hospital?”

“Yeah, she’s gone insane,” Brianna replied, giving nothing away. ‘He probably already knows what went down

at the station.’

Brandon nodded.

“The court finally ruled on Unity Group’s debt situation,” Brandon said, fixing his gaze on her.

“Turns out their liabilities outweigh their assets. If someone steps up to take over and restructure, Unity Group might survive. But if nobody’s willing, then it’s game over. They’ll have to shut down for good.”

Brianna didn’t respond, her gaze turning deep and distant.

After a long pause, when she still didn’t say anything, Brandon asked, “What do you think?”

“Why are you bringing this up to me?” Brianna asked.

“If you want to keep Unity Group afloat, I can invest and help restructure it. You’ll be the one calling the shots,” Brandon said, his eyes glinting with an expectation Brianna couldn’t quite figure out.

“Let me think about it,” Brianna replied, crossing her arms and frowning.

She didn’t really know much about corporate law, and managing a real estate company was totally out of her depth.

‘What’s with this sudden kindness?‘ she thought, feeling a bit suspicious.

Seeing how guarded she was, a hint of hurt flashed in Brandon’s eyes, but he gave a small, almost sad smile.

Brandon looked like he had something else on his mind, his gaze unreadable as he glanced at her. But in the end, he just kept it to himself.

“Get some rest,” he said, then got up and left.

Unity Group was all Brianna could think about. ‘I really need to talk this over with Uncle and Auntie.‘

The next day, after work, Brianna went straight home to the Harpers.

Caroline hadn’t been feeling well lately, but after all the drama with the Meyers family, the anger she’d bottled up for decades finally came out, and she seemed to have perked up a lot.

When Brianna got home, Caroline grabbed her hand, her face lit up with joy, and she kept asking for updates about the Meyers family.

Brianna knew how much Caroline despised the Meyers family after losing her daughter, so she went over their downfall in detail, not minding repeating herself.

“Mom, that’s enough. Whitney’s already gone, and he was still Brianna’s father. It’s not right to keep talking about him like this,” Mitch finally spoke up, unable to stand it any longer.

“What’s so wrong about it? I’m telling you, he was lucky to go when he did,” Caroline pressed on, not letting up for a second.

Brianna just smiled.

“Yeah, Unity Group was up to its neck in debt. To keep expanding, they even borrowed from loan sharks. As long as they could pay the interest and the company was still running, it was fine. But now that Unity Group’s crashed, those loan sharks will do whatever it takes to get their money back,” Brianna said.

“That’s actually why I came back this time, to deal with Unity Group.”

She shared Brandon’s offer with the family.

“I honestly don’t know much about this stuff. Do you think we should try to save Unity Group?” Brianna asked, then turned to Caroline. “Grandma, do you want to keep Mom’s company running?”

Brianna had already made up her mind. If her family really wanted to keep her mother’s company, she’d turn to Brandon for help, no matter what it took.

Worst case, she’d hand Unity Group over to him, and even give up most of Horizon Group’s shares if that’s what it came down to.

“Your mom’s gone, but keeping Unity Group means we still have something to hold on to,” Caroline spoke up first, her voice gentle but firm.

With Caroline having said that, Mitch and Vickie couldn’t really argue anymore.

“Brianna, Brandon always thinks about you. He really has you in his heart,” Mitch said gently, trying to

comfort her.

Brianna just smiled, neither agreeing nor disagreeing. ‘Only I know if this is really right for me.’

“Yeah,” Caroline agreed. “After everything that’s happened, I can see he’s actually a decent guy.”

Back when Brandon always acted so cold and distant, Caroline was hoping Brianna would divorce him and chase after her own happiness.

But in the past year or so, the Levy family proved they knew how to handle the important stuff, and Caroline found herself warming up to Brandon.

Brianna joked, “Grandma, has he managed to win you over too?”

The whole family burst out laughing.
