Willow's entire pregnancy was paved with Silas's exhaustive devotion.
While other women suffered through relentless morning sickness, swollen joints, and sleepless nights, Willow bypassed nearly all of it.
Silas was borderline obsessive in his care. If she so much as frowned in the morning, a glass of warm water, stomach-settling crackers, and an anti-nausea meal were instantly presented to her. If she tossed and turned at night, he would stay awake for hours, rubbing her back, adjusting the thermostat, dimming the lights, and whispering sweet nothings until she drifted off.
He anticipated every discomfort and neutralized it before she even felt it.
Thanks to his meticulous care, Willow absolutely glowed. The sharp angles of her face softened, replaced by a radiant, luminous beauty. She carried the pregnancy with effortless grace, completely enveloped in love.
The months flew by, and the due date arrived.
The VIP delivery suite looked more like a five-star hotel room than a hospital, stripped of any clinical coldness.
Willow lay in the bed, looking surprisingly calm. Silas, on the other hand, had completely lost his signature cool.
His broad shoulders were drawn tight, his knuckles white, and a sheen of cold sweat coated his palms. His eyes were wild with barely suppressed panic as he interrogated the medical team.
"Is everything prepped? Have you triple-checked the vitals? What are the emergency protocols if her blood pressure drops? Are the crash carts fully stocked?"
The lead obstetrician didn't dare waste a second. "Mr. Thorne, I assure you, we are completely ready. Ms. Horgan is doing wonderfully, the baby is in the perfect position, and this will be a smooth delivery."
He had ditched his suit jacket, wearing only a sterile white scrub shirt over his dress pants. He stayed planted by her side, gripping her hand with steady, anchoring strength. With his free hand, he used a soft cloth to constantly wipe the sweat from her brow and cheeks.
The room was filled with Willow's ragged, heavy breathing.
With every brutal contraction, she squeezed his hand hard enough to leave bruising indentations in his skin. Silas didn't even flinch. He leaned in, his lips brushing against her ear, murmuring a constant stream of devotion. "I'm right here, darling. You're doing incredible."
"Just a little longer. I've got you. I'm not going anywhere."
"You're so strong. Just breathe. We're going to meet our baby so soon."
