The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 506

Stella waved it off dismissively. "Don't even mention it. That trash company—staying there a second longer made me feel sick. Even having my name associated with them was too much."

"Okay, okay, as long as you're happy. Sit down, I'll make you something to drink." Suzie smiled, putting Stella's things away and pulling her toward the living room.

Stella sank into the sofa and stretched lazily. "Fruit tea is fine. Oh, let's get Oliver and grab a huge dinner tonight."

Suzie smiled. "Sounds good. We haven't had a proper get-together in a while. Watch some TV; the tea will be ready soon."

When Suzie returned to the living room with the fruit tea, Stella had already organized her thoughts.

She took a few sips and was just about to speak when Suzie beat her to it.

"Stella, now that you've quit your job, do you have any new plans?"

Stella nodded, then quickly shook her head.

Seeing her reaction, Suzie frowned and asked, "Do you have a lead? I was thinking, if you don't mind, you could come work at my studio. We can split everything fifty-fifty."

Stella grabbed Suzie's hand and smiled. "Your studio is for photography. I'm in advertising. There'd be nothing for me to do."

Stella nodded. After a moment of silence, she was direct. "Suzie... here's the thing. The General Manager position at DC Entertainment is currently vacant. After I wrote my resignation letter last night, I browsed the job boards and saw their posting. I... I want to try for it."

Stella glanced at Suzie a little guiltily, then quickly added, "I've thought this through, just listen. First, my track record at Bravo Ads Agency over the past few years is solid proof I can handle the role. Second, DC Entertainment's growth trajectory aligns perfectly with my career goals. Also, it's not that I'm looking down on your studio, I just really want to stay in my specific industry..."

"Stella." Suzie cut her off gently. "Stella, I know what you're trying to say. DC Entertainment was just acquired by the Baylor Group, which means Jamie is going to be your boss. Right?"

Suzie stood up slowly, her tone perfectly calm. "Whatever happened between him and me... it's all in the past. You don't need to sacrifice your bright future just to spare my feelings. Besides, if you gave up this chance because of me, I'd be the villain holding back your career, wouldn't I?"

Suzie sighed softly, her voice turning earnest. "Over the years, no matter how I look at it, I feel like I owe you and Oliver so much... The past few days, when you were in trouble, I was completely powerless to do anything... Stella..."
