"The family may come in as well. Everyone else, please wait outside."
Suzie was completely speechless.
As far as she knew, this wasn't a private hospital, right?
Why was this doctor practically groveling at Jamie's feet?
And why on earth was Jamie getting involved?
Sure, she should be grateful he rushed the kids to the hospital, but he didn't need to be part of a private medical consultation.
Watching Jamie casually stroll into the room behind the doctor and nurse, Suzie opened her mouth to argue, but Oliver grabbed her arm and whispered.
"Suzie... don't pick a fight over this right now. Just go in. Seeing how the doctor is treating him, it might actually work in your favor. He's definitely not going to make a mistake with Zoey's diagnosis. Go on, I'll wait right here."
Suzie hesitated for a moment before giving a tight nod and stepping into the room.
The moment she was inside, the nurse shut the door behind her.
Jamie immediately grabbed her arm, guided her into a chair, and let go just as quickly.
Before Suzie could even process the audacity, she was left utterly bewildered.
How was his skin so thick? How did he act so insanely entitled about everything?
Suzie glared at him before turning her attention to the doctor. "Doctor, what caused my daughter's nosebleed?"
"Has she had them before?" the doctor asked. "Have they ever been this heavy? Was there any pain?"
Suzie answered honestly, "She's had three since last year. No pain, but one of them was accompanied by bleeding gums."
She slowly shifted her gaze to him. Up close, the bloodstains on his shirt had dried into a horrifying dark brown.
He was a notorious neat freak. Why wasn't he rushing home to change? Why was he still here?
Suzie looked away, her lips twitching before she spoke in a hollow voice. "Thank you for bringing Zoey here. If there's nothing else, you can leave now."
Her tone was perfectly flat, completely stripped of any emotional inflection.
Jamie kept his eyes locked on her. Seeing how distressed she was, his own chest tightened.
He wanted to stay with her. He wanted to be there until she held a clean bill of health for her daughter.
"I don't have anywhere else to be," he replied, saying exactly what was on his mind. "I'm familiar with the doctors here. I'll leave once her tests are done."
Suzie didn't have the energy to entertain him. She simply shifted in her chair, turning her back to him.
