Zayn and Zeke. One was sitting on Jamie's left leg, the other on his right.
The two little boys were wrapped tightly in Jamie's strong, muscular arms.
The stark contrast between the massive man and the tiny toddlers radiated an overwhelming sense of security.
Suzie's eyes frantically swept the area, but Zoey was nowhere to be seen. As she stepped closer in a daze, she finally noticed...
Jamie's light gray dress shirt was violently stained with splatters of dark blood. It was a horrifying sight.
Suzie's frozen stance caught Mia's attention. She had been standing near the wall.
"Suzie!"
Mia's shout drew everyone's eyes toward them.
Zayn and Zeke instantly slid off Jamie's lap and sprinted toward her.
"Mommy! Mommy!"
"Oliver! Oliver!"
The two boys yelled happily, throwing their arms wide open.
Suzie didn't even care if Jamie suddenly figured out she was the mother of the famous "Sugar Buddies." She immediately dropped to her knees and pulled her boys into a desperate hug.
"Zayn, Zeke, are you okay? How is your sister?" Suzie asked, her eyes burning with unshed tears. She tried her best to hide her panic so she wouldn't scare them.
Zayn wrapped his arms around her neck and said with utmost seriousness, "Zoey bled a lot, but she didn't look like she was hurting..."
Her heart was entirely focused on Zoey, so she didn't have the energy to pick a fight right now. She slowly stood up, told Mia to keep an eye on them, and walked toward the clinic doors, stopping right outside.
Oliver, who had remained rooted to the spot, hadn't said a single word other than waving at the kids.
Seeing Suzie walk away, he finally moved to follow her.
But after just two steps, his eyes accidentally locked with Jamie's.
Jamie shot him a deadly glare, and Oliver returned it with an unapologetic eye roll.
When Oliver reached Suzie, he scanned the hallway and said comfortingly, "Don't panic. This looks like a specialist's consultation room, not the ER. That means Zoey's condition isn't critical."
"Yeah..." Suzie replied, completely distracted. She never stopped pacing back and forth in front of the doors.
