The Year I Was the Other Woman To Myself novel Chapter 834

"I've kept a crew maintaining it on a regular schedule. I always knew we'd come back here someday, and it seems I was right."

Hamilton pushed the front door open, then bent down to take Kristin's hand.

Kristin immediately yanked her hand away, pouting as she turned to Natalie to voice her displeasure.

"Mommy, I don't like it here! I want to go home!"

Natalie gently coaxed her, "We're just going to hang out here for the day, sweetie. We'll go home tonight."

"But Dad and I had a promise! We were supposed to go to the zoo today."

"Dad has some important work to do. He'll take you to the zoo another day, okay?"

"Then I'll just wait for him at home."

"He..."

"Kristin, I am your father. You should only be calling that man your uncle," Hamilton interrupted, his tone suddenly stern.

"You're not my dad! I don't even like you!"

"Whether you like me or not, I'm your father. It's my blood running through your veins!"

"Hamilton!" Natalie quickly pulled her daughter behind her. "If you do that again, I'm taking Kristin and leaving right now!"

Hamilton let out a heavy breath. "I don't like my daughter calling another man Dad. Just like you wouldn't like Kristin calling another woman Mom, right?"

"This is all because of you—"

"You want to say this is all my fault, right? I admit it. But I'm actively trying to make up for it, and the two of you should at least try to let me in."

Natalie rubbed her temples. There was no reasoning with him. All she could do was pray the day would end quickly so he would honor his promise to let Marico go.

"Kristin, Daddy prepared a surprise for you."

"I just know our first baby is going to be a little girl. I want to build her the perfect princess room."

Hamilton had said those exact words to her, his hand resting tenderly over her flat stomach after they had made love.

She had laughed at him for being so eager, but secretly, she yearned to give him a daughter just as much.

True to his word, Hamilton immediately hired contractors to renovate this room in the mountain house, while she took charge of buying toys for their future baby. She figured a little girl would love stuffed animals, so she bought them endlessly, until they formed a massive pile.

"When she's old enough, we'll give this room to her as a massive surprise," Hamilton had murmured, holding her close.

At the time, she fully believed that day would come. The day had finally arrived, but she and Hamilton were divorced, and she had brought their daughter here during a time when she despised him the most.

"She really loves the surprise we made for her," Hamilton said, stepping up beside Natalie.

Natalie replied coldly, "She just likes the toys."
