The Year I Stopped Being His novel Chapter 122

Vivienne led them to a white building at the very back of the facility, unlocking a heavy metal door with a fingerprint and retinal scan.

The moment they stepped inside, rows of immaculate cryogenic chambers greeted them. Constructed from transparent nanomaterials, the pods were filled with a pale blue freezing medium that emitted a faint, ethereal glow.

Intelligent monitoring equipment densely surrounded the chambers. Complex data cascaded across the screens while red laser beams scanned the pods, tracking the vital signs of the biological specimens inside in real-time.

"This is our station's latest breakthrough, and the project I spearhead—Quantum Bio-Freezing Technology," Vivienne announced, her voice brimming with pride. "It's currently the most advanced in the world."

"Quantum... bio-freezing?!" Diego's jaw dropped. "You mean you can freeze an animal's body and bring it back to life?"

"Exactly." Vivienne pointed to one of the chambers. "That one holds an Antarctic Emperor Penguin. We froze it last year, successfully revived it three months later, and now it functions normally, forages, and has even reproduced."

"Wait, reproduced?!"

Vivienne gestured to a larger pod. "And in this one is a polar bear, another of our subjects. Its health is perfect post-revival. Absolutely no organ damage or memory loss."

Lilah pressed close to the glass, her eyes wide with wonder. "Wow! That is incredible! It just looks like it's sleeping. You can't even tell it was frozen!"

Josh, however, frowned. He stared at the data on the monitors, deep in thought. "Dr. Hayes, does this freezing technique maintain vital signs through quantum-level molecular stabilization? How do you prevent cellular rupture during the thawing process?"

A flicker of approval crossed Vivienne's eyes. "Very professional, Josh. Yes, we use quantum cryonics to put the cells into a dormant state, minimizing molecular activity without destroying the cellular structure. During the thaw, we use a gradient heating technique paired with a specialized revival fluid, allowing the cells to awaken slowly. There's zero risk of rupture."

Her tone shifted, growing more solemn. "We've already successfully revived several large mammals and achieved breeding. The next step is human trials—though, of course, that's still in the preparatory phase. We have a few final ethical and technical hurdles to clear."

Coach Jensen chimed in, sounding skeptical. "Human freezing? Isn't that a bit too sci-fi? If the thaw fails, the consequences are unimaginable. Who would volunteer to be the first guinea pig?"
