"Lily, look. You need to arch your fingers here, so the strike is crisp and clean. Watch my hands as I play."
In the music room of the Ludwig family mansion, the eldest son, Floyd Ludwig, was intently teaching Lily Wilson how to play the piano.
Sunlight poured through the massive windows, casting a golden glow over the grand piano that cost thousands of dollars, and lighting up the shoulders of the teenage boy and the young girl beside him.
It was a warm, picturesque scene.
Having just turned twelve, Lily watched Floyd's technique with fierce concentration, eager to learn.
Neither of them noticed someone silently creeping up behind them.
Suddenly, a hand shot out and yanked hard on Lily's ponytail, making her gasp and whip around.
Her surprise instantly morphed into fury.
"Denis Ludwig! What is wrong with you?!" Lily snapped, clutching the back of her head. Even in her anger, she had a striking, radiant complexion that perfectly mirrored her powerhouse lawyer mother.
Approaching fourteen, Denis had just returned from shooting hoops. Sweat beaded on his handsome, sun-kissed face, and his lean, athletic frame had already shot well past six feet.
Despite getting yelled at, he maintained a cocky, unapologetic grin. "It's a gorgeous weekend. Are you guys really going to sit in here and bang on some keys? Talk about boring."
"Mind your own business!" Lily fired back sharply, turning back to the keyboard. "Let's keep going, Floyd."
Floyd shot his twin brother a warning glare before refocusing on the lesson.
But Denis wasn't about to give up that easily. "The Neo Haven Music Festival is tonight. A bunch of huge bands are playing, and that indie guy you're obsessed with is headlining, Lily. I've got three VIP passes. Are you seriously going to miss out?"
That instantly caught her attention. Her eyes widened. "You actually got tickets to the festival?"
"Obviously."
Lily spun around to look at Floyd, her eyes shining with excitement. "Floyd, let's go! Please? It's Saturday night!"
Floyd frowned slightly. "Aunt Ivy said you have to be home by nine o'clock."
"Oh, come on! My mom just doesn't want me wandering around by myself. If I'm with you guys, it's totally fine."
Floyd still looked hesitant.
Denis knew perfectly well that if his older brother didn't agree, the whole plan would be scrapped, so he quickly jumped in. "Come on, man. We'll just check it out and be back by ten. With both of us there, Lily will be completely safe."
Floyd's expression remained stern, refusing to budge.
"Floyd..." Lily grabbed his arm, shaking it with a pleading pout.
Floyd caved almost instantly. "Fine. But we have to be back by ten. Not a minute later."
"Yes!"
