Chapter 737

Chapter 737

Every word Freddy typed radiated an effortless familiarity and genuine care. He was only trying to help, and Nathalie simply couldn’t find it in her heart to refuse himr,

She gave him a soft nod, and a subtle, pleased smile graced Freddy’s lips.

Dr. Adler took a seat across from them. Catching their quiet exchange, she raised a singl eyebrow but wisely kept her thoughts to herself.

Freddy took the lead. “She mentioned it was caused by poisoning. Is there anything you can do to counteract it?”

“Poisoning?” Dr. Adler’s surprise was evident. She immediately shifted into her professiona demeanor. “Alright, my dear. Let me see your wrist.”

Nathalie extended her hand, using her free hand to quickly type on her phone. The robotic voice chimed in, “Thank you so much. My last name is Adams. I truly appreciate your help.”

Hearing the text-to-speech app, a flicker of profound sympathy crossed Dr. Adler’s eyes.

Such a breathtaking young woman, and she couldn’t even speak. It was a damn tragedy.

And judging by the way Freddy hovered over her, Dr. Adler highly doubted they were ‘just friends.’ The least she could do was give the girl a proper assessment.

Dr. Adler pressed her fingers to Nathalie’s pulse point, her concentration absolute. After checking her pulse and asking to examine her tongue, she sat back. “You’ve been taking herbal medicine recently, haven’t you? And undergoing acupuncture?”

Nathalie’s eyes widened in shock. How did she know that?

She nodded quickly.

Dr. Adler smiled knowingly. “I can see the surprise on your face. I can tell because a significant amount of the toxins in your system has already been flushed out. Whoever is treating you is incredibly skilled. I’m going to write up a supplemental prescription for you. Take it alongside your current regimen-it will accelerate the healing process.”

As she spoke, she pulled out her phone and rapidly typed out a prescription. “I’ve just forwarded it to Freddy. He can send it to you.”

Overwhelmed with gratitude, Nathalie stood up and gave the doctor a deep, respectful bow.

Dr. Adler laughed, waving her off. “Oh, please, no need for all that formality. I’m just doing what I can. Now, I really should get back to my friends before they think I abandoned them.”

Her phone had just buzzed with a text from her dining party, letting her know they had arrived

Chapter 737

Freddy stood up instantly. “I’ll walk you out.”

He turned to Nathalie, his voice softening. “Wait right here for me.”

Nathalie nodded.

As soon as the private room door clicked shut behind them, Dr. Adler leveled a knowing lool at Freddy. “So… you’ve got it bad for her, haven’t you?”

Freddy merely offered a smooth, unbothered smile. “Keep your voice down. If she hears you she’ll get uncomfortable.”

Dr. Adler scoffed lightly. “She’s a married woman, Freddy.”

“Not for long,” Freddy replied evenly. “She’ll be divorced soon.”

“You absolute menace…” Dr. Adler chuckled, pointing a finger at him. “Well, let me know when her voice comes back. I’d love to actually have a conversation with her.”

“I will,” Freddy nodded.

“Alright, I’m off. Enjoy your lunch,” Dr. Adler said, giving a brief wave before heading down the hall to her own private room.

Freddy walked straight to the host stand and pre-paid the bill for both their table and Dr. Adler’s. By the time he returned to the room, Nathalie was already holding up her phone for

him to see.

Simultaneously, Freddy’s own phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out to see a direct money transfer from her.

He raised an eyebrow, walking over and taking his seat across from her. “What’s this?”

Nathalie typed quickly. “Dr. Adler did me a massive favor, so it’s only right that I pay for this meal. Please don’t refuse it, or I’ll feel terribly guilty.”

Freddy reached up, adjusting his glasses with a slow, deliberate movement. “And what if I want you to feel indebted to me?”

Nathalie froze, looking up at him in pure astonishment.

Freddy offered a warm, devastating smile. “If you feel like you owe me, maybe you’ll finally stop avoiding me. Maybe we can actually go back to seeing each other regularly, just like we

ed to”
