The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 717

Chapter 717

Nathalie was dumbfounded.

Chapter 717

Was he possessed by some sort of whiny ghost?

How else could he be acting this ridiculously?

Nathalie took a deep breath, furiously tapping on her phone until the robotic voice spoke. “I’m just saying, if you needed something, you

should have called someone. What if you slipped and cut yourself on the glass?”

Lance took a step closer. “You’re worried I’ll get hurt?”

Nathalie felt like he was entirely missing the point.

She tried to type another response, but he reached out and captured her hand, stopping her dead in her tracks.

He leaned in closer. “So, you do still care about me.”

Nathalie rolled her eyes.

He was definitely losing his mind.

Lance’s thumb caressed the back of her hand. Listening to her soft breathing so close to him, his Adam’s apple bobbed.

They were standing in their familiar master bedroom, the space they had shared for four years. Every corner was steeped in the lingering scent of their past intimacy and love.

Lance’s breathing grew noticeably heavier.

Knock, knock!

Just as the tension between them flared into something far more dangerous, the sudden knocking shattered the mood.

“Who is it?”

Chapter 717

Lance turned his head slightly, his voice dropping an octave in

annoyance.

Elara’s entirely too cheerful voice drifted through the door. “It’s me! It’s me! It’s time for your acupuncture. Is it a good time?”

There was a distinct undertone of schadenfreude in the young woman’s voice. She had absolutely timed this on purpose.

A vein throbbed against Lance’s temple. He was fully aware of Elara’s

intense disdain for him.

If it weren’t for Nathalie, she probably wouldn’t even treat him.

Suddenly, he swooped down and captured Nathalie’s lips in a fierce kiss.

Mmph!

The kiss caught her completely off guard, forcing her to stumble back two steps.

He really was getting good at this. Blind or not, his radar for her mouth was terrifyingly accurate.

He gave her bottom lip a playful bite, murmuring hoarsely against her mouth, “Nathalie, why does everyone love you so much?”

Men, women, the elderly, children…

Everyone adored her. Everyone wanted to steal her away from him.

Nathalie’s lips tingled. She shoved him back, her clear eyes blazing with

annoyance.

Too bad the man couldn’t see the deadly glare she was shooting him.

Instead, she settled for delivering a solid punch to his chest before marching over to open the door.

“Nathalie!”

Elara flashed her a brilliant smile, but it faltered the second she noticed.

Chapter 717

Nathalie’s slightly swollen lips. She let out a loud scoff.

“Toad.”

Embarrassed, Nathalie feigned absolute composure and stepped aside

to let her in.

Elara strolled around, inspecting the room. “Wow, this bedroom is huge. Hey, used to be a photo hanging here, right?”

She pointed toward the headboard. The blank space on the wall looked incredibly conspicuous.

When Nathalie agreed to move in here, taking down the wedding portraits had been her one non-negotiable condition.

Lance’s face turned icy, choosing to ignore her completely.

But Elara purposely sidled closer to him. “Let me guess… wedding photos? So why are they gone? Did somebody stop liking them?”

Lance’s tone was positively venomous.

Lance’s tone was positively venomous. “You are incredibly obnoxious.”

“Oh, did I hit a nerve? Hmph. I’ve pretty much figured out why your marriage fell apart. Lance, I really didn’t see this coming. To think you were in love with your own sister-in-law.”

Elara glared at him with pure disgust. “If it weren’t for my respect for Nathalie, I would never treat a scumbag like you!”
