Chapter 713
Chapter 713
A staff member approached to guide Lance toward his room. He said coldly, “Grandma isn’t leaving anymore. You can go.”
Sophia’s face paled. Biting her lip, she murmured, “I understand.”
She turned and left Lumina Grand. The moment she stepped through the front gates, her eyes welled with tears.
He was so cold to her.
…
Nathalie fell asleep. When she woke up, she felt a gentle hand stroking her hair. She turned her head and met her grandmother’s loving gaze.
“Nathalie, did you sleep well?”
Grandma asked affectionately, her face full of tender concern.
Nathalie immediately turned and hugged her, nodding.
It was the most peaceful rest she had gotten in ages.
By her grandmother’s side, enveloped in that familiar warmth, she felt completely at ease!
Grandma lovingly stroked her back. “I know you’re keeping things from me, and I won’t pry. You can tell me whenever you’re ready, but you have to promise me one thing.”
She gently pulled Nathalie back and looked deeply into her eyes. “No matter what kind of danger you face next, you need to tell me
beforehand. I refuse to hear news about you from someone else’s mouth.”
Nathalie pressed her lips together, her throat tightening as she nodded vigorously.
Guilt washed over her.
Chapter 713
In the end, she had still dragged her grandmother into a state of panic
and fear.
Knock, knock!
A gentle rapping sounded at the door.
“Who is it?”
Grandma stood up, looking toward the door in confusion.
“Grandma, it’s me. Dinner is ready. Are you hungry?” Lance’s voice carried through the wood.
Grandma looked back at Nathalie. “Since you’re up, let’s go eat. I even made a dish myself-your favorite braised fish.”
At that, Nathalie’s eyes lit up, a radiant smile curving her lips.
Grandma called out to the door, “We’ll be right down.”
“Alright.”
Nathalie quickly freshened up and headed downstairs with her grandmother, feeling rejuvenated.
Glancing around the room, Grandma asked in confusion, “Where’s Sophia?”
She had forgotten to arrange things for Sophia earlier, but since Sophia was employed here, the staff should have taken care of her.
Lance replied evenly, “She had some errands to run, so she left.”
Elara immediately shot him a look. That liar!
She had seen it clear as day; he was the one who kicked the poor girl out! Elara gave a soft scoff but didn’t push the issue.
Grandma glanced at Elara, catching the disdainful look she aimed at Lance, but she simply withdrew her gaze and kept silent.
Chapter 713
Madonna offered a polite smile. “Ma’am, I didn’t realize you were here. My return was a bit sudden-I hope I didn’t startle you.”
Grandma shook her head. “Not at all. Lance has been taking great care of
me lately.”
“He’s your grandson-in-law, it’s his duty to look after you,” Madonna said smoothly. “No need to stand on ceremony with him. Order him around however you please.”
Grandma offered a kind smile. “Lance has always been attentive. But he’s injured now, so his recovery comes first. I can still move around just fine, I can help look after them both.”
Madonna quickly chimed in, “I’ll be living here from now on, so I’ll handle all the caretaking. We couldn’t possibly trouble you with that.”
She then turned to Lance, letting out a heavy sigh. “I can’t help but wonder how your grandmother is doing all alone abroad.”
“If you’re so worried, you’re free to visit her,” Lance remarked indifferently. “Or better yet, stay there and keep her company.”
