Chapter 688
“I want to go home!”
Damaris screamed in a complete mental breakdown, her entire body shaking with sobs.
Lawrence’s expression froze, his blue eyes locking onto hers. “Do you absolutely have to leave me?”
She wiped her face with the back of her hand and choked out, “I don’t even like you. I don’t want to be with you. I’m already married, but you dragged me all the way here! This is illegal imprisonment! I don’t want to see your face-not even a little bit!”
His impossibly handsome features hardened. He stood up slowly, towering over her with an oppressive aura.
The sudden change in his demeanor terrified her into silence, though she couldn’t stop the hiccups. Gazing up at him through tear-filled eyes, she mumbled, “Are you going to kill me?”
She tilted her neck back defiantly. “I’d rather you kill me than keep me locked up in here!”
If he killed her, maybe her soul would travel back to her homeland, Maybe she would get to see her family and friends again.
Even if it had to be that way.
Sob…
Her life was so utterly tragic.
The mere thought of that scenario sent a fresh wave of tears cascading down her face. Crying harder than ever, completely past the point of fearing Lawrence, she began to wail again.
His hands clenched into tight fists at his sides. After several long breaths, he offered, “How about I take you out to sea? Do you want to watch the
die. I’m going to live a very long life, right up until the day you finally love me.”
She slapped him hard across the face. “Get away from me!”
He clicked his tongue against his teeth. Instead of flying into a rage, he grabbed her hand, blew gently on her palm, and kissed it. “Baby, does your hand hurt?”
Psycho! Complete psycho!
Trembling violently, she stared at him in stark horror.
He reached up and covered her eyes. He couldn’t stand seeing her look at him with such terror.
He loved her so unconditionally. How could she possibly fear him?
He swept her into his arms. “I’m taking you out to sea. We’re going to watch the sunrise and the sunset.”
He pressed a tender kiss to her temple. “The view is breathtaking, baby. You’re going to love it.”
True to his word, Lawrence immediately ordered his men to prep the
yacht docked right by the pier. Once everything was set, he carried her on board.
Chapter 688
The afternoon breeze was gentle, with two or three hours to go before dusk.
The ocean was calm, and Damaris’s ernotions had finally settled into a numb exhaustion, her eyes red and puffy from crying.
He retrieved an ice pack and gently pressed it against her eyes. “This will take down the swelling, baby. It’ll be better in a minute.”
She remained motionless, radiating freezing apathy, her entire posture screaming rejection.
Even the air she exhaled seemed steeped in loathing.
Lawrence blatantly ignored it all.
Keeping her locked in his arms, he affectionately nuzzled her cheek. “If you behave, baby, I might consider letting your friends know you’re okay.” At that, she flinched and tried to turn her head toward him, but he held her firmly in place.
“Don’t move. The swelling hasn’t gone down yet,” he murmured softly.
