The king cobra stayed hidden for a while. As soon as it slithered back out, ready to try the same trick ag those long, slender legs stepped out of the water.
The snake lingered for a moment in disappointment before finally swimming away with the stream flowing down from the waterfall.
Claire climbed out of the pool and looked back at the spot where she had been bathing. She glanced do at her thighs in a pang of fear. There wasn’t a single mark on them, nothing to suggest anything had brushed against her.
She patted her cheeks and laughed at herself.
“Maybe I was just imagining it.”
The Eagle Clan was full of beastfolk, and security was tight. It had to be safe.
Besides, this waterfall was deep inside the clan. It would be almost impossible for outsiders to sneak in

Hearing the splash of water, Marcus called out loudly, “Claire, are you done?”
Claire dried herself with a towel from her storage space. She gently dried her hair until it was only slight damp, then gathered it into a low bun at the back of her neck, securing it with a feather.
She stored her damp fur tunic away and took out a clean one to change into. Once she was dressed, she walked over to Marcus and lightly tapped his arm.
“Marcus, I’m done. Back in the pool, I thought I…”
Her voice trailed off.
Marcus’s mind was already somewhere else. Distracted, he asked without thinking, “You thought what, Claire?”
After a brief pause, Claire shook her head and smiled again.
“It’s nothing. Let’s head back.”
Marcus’s eyes lit up. He wrapped both arms around Claire’s thighs and hurried toward the treehouse.
Claire gasped and quickly wrapped her arms around his neck.
With Marcus carrying her like that, she sat much higher than he did. Her legs were held tightly against him, and he was moving so fast that she felt a little unsteady.
“Slow down!”
Marcus’s warm, heavy breaths brushed against her waist, making her squirm from the ticklish feeling. But he didn’t slow down at all. He kept running as if it were an emergency.
Chapter 798 No Escape for Claire
Claire was still wondering what had gotten into him when their treehouse came into view. Standing beneath it was Zane, tall and handsome, as though he had been waiting for them to return.
“Hey, Zane! Why are you still awake?”
Claire lifted a hand and waved.
Marcus was still holding Claire in his arms. The position was a little intimate, and his grip was so tight it was clear he had no intention of setting her down.
Smiling, Zane looked at Claire and said, “I’ve been waiting for you.”
“Huh?” Claire blinked in surprise. “I thought you two had already decided Marcus would stay with me tonight.”
That was why Marcus had taken her to the waterfall for a bath.
She hadn’t expected Zane to still be waiting.
They aren’t going to fight, are they?
Claire glanced at Marcus nervously, but he didn’t seem surprised to see Zane at all. Instead, he grinned, tightened his arms around her, and leaped onto the treehouse porch.
He shoved the door open with his shoulder and carried Claire straight inside before dropping her onto t fur–covered bed.
Creak!
Marcus leaned over her.
“Claire.”
That was all he managed to say before he covered her face with a flurry of kisses.
The thought of Zane still standing outside made Claire’s face burn. She pushed gently against Marcus’s
chest.
‘Wait… at least until Zane leaves…”
‘Until I leave… then what, Claire? Say that again.”
Zane’s voice suddenly came from inside the treehouse.
Claire quickly turned her head.
To her shock, Zane was standing only a few feet behind Marcus, watching them with feverish eyes.
He never left!
Not only had he stayed, but he had been standing there the whole time.
Claire’s cheeks turned bright red. She was so embarrassed she wanted to disappear. But Marcus’s body felt

as solid as a stone wall, and no matter how hard she pushed, he didn’t budge.
“M-Marcus…”
Her voice trembled.

Marcus finally pulled away for a moment Rubbing the tip of his nose against hers, he looked at her with an almost pitiful expression.
“Claire, please don’t make me leave. And don’t make him leave either, okay? I already agreed to let you accept another beast mate.”
Only then did Claire realize the truth. Marcus had accepted her bonding with Davy so easily because he‘ been planning this all along.
As Zane walked closer, Claire’s heart skipped a beat.
While making his way toward the bed, Zane calmly untied his fur tunic.
“You already agreed to this, Claire,” he said with a gentle smile. “I asked if we could try something differen and you said yes.”
Claire cried out silently.
So this is what you meant by “something different“? This is way wilder than I expected! This has to be Marcus’s idea!
Zane was always so sweet and innocent when it came to sex. He was never the one who came up things like this.

The little green snake wrapped around Claire’s wrist lifted his tiny red head. With one finger, Zane picked Davy up and carried him outside before closing the treehouse door.
“Be patient,” Zane said from inside. “Tomorrow will be your turn to bond with Claire.”
Davy stopped crawling.
In Claire’s mind, he quietly said, “He’s the first beast mate. I have to listen to him.”
Then he slithered along the tree trunk to the neighboring treehouse.
Inside, the two nests of pups were sleeping soundly, completely unaware that a little green snake had quietly slipped through the window.
Davy curled up nearby, looking forward to tomorrow’s bonding.
As for Claire, she had lost herself in Marcus and Zane’s loving attention.
