Chapter Seventy
Back in Black Howler Pack, the next day unfolded with a different kind of tension.
Diana, Willow, and Leah had planned to go out to town together-a simple girls’ day meant to ease the atmosphere and help Leah settle more comfortably into the pack.
But the moment breakfast began…
Everything felt just a little off.
It started when Enzo walked into the dining hall with Leah beside him.
Diana, Talon, and Willow were already seated at their usual table when Enzo approached.
“Alpha. Luna,” Leah greeted respectfully, lowering her head slightly.
Diana gave her a warm nod.
“Leah.”
Leah hesitated for a moment before speaking again.
“Luna… I-”
She took a breath.
“I want to apologize again for what my parents-”
Diana gently raised her hand, stopping her mid-sentence.
“Leah,” she said softly but firmly, “we will never move forward if every time we see each other, you-or your parents-feel the need to apologize.”
Leah froze slightly.
Diana’s voice remained calm.
“As I’ve said before, there is nothing for them to apologize for.”
She met Leah’s eyes.
“They were under Hazel’s command.”
Her tone softened slightly.
“There was nothing they could do.”
Leah swallowed.
Diana continued.
“Until Enzo used his authority as Royal Beta to override Hazel’s command, they had no choice but to

remain silent.”
She gave Leah a reassuring smile.
“So we move forward.”
Leah’s shoulders relaxed slightly
“Thank you,” she said quietly.
But even with that reassurance…
The awkwardness didn’t disappear.
It lingered.
In the way Willow avoided looking directly at Enzo.
In the way Leah stayed carefully composed, as if afraid to step on unseen boundaries.
In the way Enzo tried to act normal-yet clearly felt the tension between the two women.
Diana noticed everything.
She knew the story.
She understood the unspoken emotions between Willow, Leah, and Enzo.
But she said nothing.
It wasn’t her story to tell.
If Willow wanted Talon to know…
She would tell him herself.
Breakfast itself turned into something unexpectedly chaotic.
Word had already spread throughout the pack.
Their Luna was in the dining hall.
And not just any Luna-
A kind one.
Approachable.
Warm.
One by one, pack members began approaching their table.

Warriors greeted Talon’s mate respectfully.
Older wolves nodded with quiet approval.
Families stopped by to offer polite greetings.
And then-
The pups arrived.
One small boy ran straight toward Diana without hesitation.
“Luna!” he called excitedly.
Before his mother could stop him, he was already tugging at Diana’s sleeve.
“Can you pick me up?”
The poor mother rushed forward, flustered.
“I’m so sorry, Luna-he shouldn’t-”
Diana only smiled.
“It’s okay.”
She gently lifted the pup onto her lap.
The child beamed instantly.
That seemed to open the floodgates.
More pups followed.
Some shy.
Some bold.
One asked for a hug.
Another proudly showed her a small wooden toy.
Another simply stood there, staring at her in awe.
Their mothers looked mortified.
“Luna, we apologize-”
But Diana only laughed softly.
“It’s alright,” she reassured them.
“They’re welcome.”
She listened to their stories.

Answered their questions.
Let them sit beside her.
For a moment-
The tension at the table softened,
Even Willow smiled faintly at the sight.
Even Leah relaxed just a little.
Enzo watched quietly.
There was something about Diana…
The way she naturally connected with the pack.
The way the pups trusted her instantly.
The way even the adults felt at ease around her.
It was effortless.
It was natural.
It was exactly what a Luna should be.
Still…
Beneath the laughter of children and the warmth of the moment-
The tension remained.
Unspoken.
Lingering between Willow, Leah, and Enzo.
And Diana knew…
This girls’ day out-
Was not just about shopping.
It was about healing something fragile.
Something broken.
And something that, if not handled carefully-
Could affect more than just the three of them.

They arrived in town just before noom, the streets lively but not crowded. Willow had chosen a spa owned by wolves-a quiet, elegant place tucked between two small shops-where they could relax without worrying about hiding who they were.
Inside, the atmosphere was calm. Soft music played in the background, and the scent of essential oils filled the air.
“This is exactly what we need,” Willow said as they were guided into a private room.
“With the marking ceremony coming up, I feel like everything has been moving too fast.”
Leah nodded in agreement, while Diana simply smiled, already feeling some of the tension leave her shoulders.
They changed into comfortable robes and settled onto the massage tables, the warmth and calm slowly easing their muscles.
For a few moments, none of them spoke.
Just… breathing.
Relaxing.
Letting the weight of everything fade, even just a little.
But Willow, as always, could not stay quiet for long.
“I still don’t understand why my brother only gave us two weeks to prepare,” she said, her voice slightly muffled as she lay face down on the table.
Her tone carried a mix of frustration and disbelief.
“As if he couldn’t wait to bind you to him.”
Diana chuckled softly.
“You already accepted each other,” Willow continued. “The bond is already there. He could have given us at least a month to prepare!”
She sighed dramatically.
“Do you know how many details we have to finalize?”
Leah laughed lightly beside her.
“I think your brother just doesn’t want to take any chances.”
Diana hummed thoughtfully.
“Maybe,” she said.
Then, after a brief pause, she added-

“Or maybe it has something to do with the rogue king.”
The room grew quiet for a second.
Even the soft background music seemed distant.
Leah turned her head slightly.
“You mean the rogue king the captured rogue mentioned during Hazel and Rafe’s trial in Crimson Fang?” she asked.
Diana nodded.
“The very same.”
She exhaled slowly, relaxing back into the table.
“I don’t understand why he still thinks about it,” Diana continued. “As if he expects me to just… go with him if I don’t have Talon’s mark yet.”
There was a hint of disbelief in her voice.
“I’ve already chosen Talon.”
Her tone softened slightly.
“Not just chosen… he is my fated mate.”
A small smile formed on her lips.
“But if that rogue king ever comes here thinking he can take me away…”
