Chapter Sixty Eight
“What are you doing? Vanessa choked out, her fingers digging into Rafe’s wrist as she tried to pry his
hand off her throat.
Her nails clawed at his skin.
But Rafe didn’t even flinch.
Instead-
His grip tightened.
Her breath hitched painfully.’
Air became scarce.
Her wolf panicked inside her mind.
“Mate! Mate-don’t hurt mate!”
But Rafe’s voice cut through everything.
Cold.
Deadly.
“Listen to me,” he said, his eyes locking onto hers. “And listen well.”
Vanessa struggled, her chest heaving as she tried to pull in air.
“There will be no rejection,” Rafe continued.
His tone left no room for argument.
“You will go to your parents and tell them that you have decided to accept me as your mate.”
His grip tightened slightly again as Vanessa tried to speak.
“I don’t care what story you create,” he added. “But you will make them believe it.”
His voice dropped lower.
“And we will accept each other.”
“Right here.”
“Right now.”
Vanessa glared at him, even as her vision started to blur slightly.
“You’re insane,” she rasped.
Her hands still tried to push him away.

“Even if we accept each other now, I can reject you later,” she said through clenched teeth.
Her eyes flashed with defiance.
“And when I do, I will make sure my father kills you for this.”
Rafe smirked.
“You can try.”
His voice turned almost amused.
“But I will burn this entire pack to the ground before I die.”
The confidence in his tone made Vanessa hesitate.
“And I can do it,” he continued.
His eyes darkened.
“Why do you think I was running?”
He tilted his head slightly.
“Did you really believe that story I told your parents?”
Vanessa froze.
Her eyes widened.
“You were listening, weren’t you?” Rafe added mockingly.
“You lied…” she whispered.
“You lied to my father. To the Alpha.”
Rafe’s smirk widened.
“He is not my Alpha,” he said coldly. “He has no authority over me
Then his gaze dropped briefly to her neck, where his hand still held her captive.
“But you…”
His voice lowered.
“You are my mate.”
He inhaled slightly.
“I can feel your wolf.”
A cruel smile formed.
“She is practically begging for mine.”

Vanessa’s jaw clenched.
“As if yours isn’t howling for mine,” she shot back, trying to regain control of the situation.
For a brief moment
Rafe’s expression shifted.
But only slightly.
“Maybe,” he admitted.

Then his eyes hardened again.
“But you are not my first mate.”
The words landed like a slap.
“And my first mate was far better than you.”
Vanessa’s breath hitched in anger.
“And unlike you,” Rafe continued, “I know how to control my wolf.”
His grip remained firm.
“So ask yourself this…”
His voice turned dangerously quiet.
“Are you willing to risk your life-and your entire pack-just to run to your father and reject me?”
He leaned closer.
“Because I will win. Remember, I do not have anything to lose.”
His words were filled with certainty.
“I will get my revenge.”
“And if pretending to be your mate is what it takes..”
His lips curled slightly.
“Then I will play that role perfectly.”
Vanessa swallowed hard.
“Revenge?” she asked carefully.
“Let me go… and we can talk.”
Rafe didn’t move.
“Accept me first,” he said.

Accept the bond.”
His eyes bored into hers.
“Don’t try to outplay-me, Vanessa.”
His grip tightened just enough to make her gasp again.
“I can kill you before you even finish the rejection.”
Vanessa’s mind raced.
She needed to survive this.
“What pack are you from?” she asked quickly. “How can I accept you without knowing your pack?”
“I don’t have one,” Rafe replied coldly.
“My name is enough.”
Vanessa hesitated.
Her wolf screamed inside her.
Mate. Accept mate.
She hated it.
But she had no choice.
“I… Vanessa of Stone Claw Pack…” she started.
Rafe’s grip tightened again.
“Finish it,” he warned.
Vanessa’s voice shook slightly.
“…accept you, Rafe… as my mate.”
The moment the words left her lips-
Rafe released her.
“I, Rafe… accept you, Vanessa of Stone Claw Pack… as my mate.”
The bond snapped into place.
Instant.
Heavy.
Unavoidable.
Vanessa staggered back slightly, coughing as she dragged air into her lungs.

Her hand flew to her throat.
She could feel it.
The bond.
Deep.
Binding.
There was no undoing it now.
Not without his agreement.
And she knew-
He would never give it.

A few moments passed in silence.
Vanessa steadied herself, her breathing slowly returning to normal.
Then she looked at him.
“Now,” she said coldly, “tell me what you meant by revenge.”
Rafe leaned back slightly against the bed, his expression dark.
“There is someone I need to kill.”
His voice was calm.
But filled with hatred.
“The one who killed my mate. She will pay for she did.”
Vanessa’s eyes narrowed.
“She?”
“Yes,” Rafe said.
His lips curled.
