Chapter Thirty Three
“As you know,” Talon began, his voice calm but carrying effortlessly across Alpha Asher’s office, “fifteen rogues attacked my Luna,”
Every eye in the room turned to him.
“They ambushed her while she was alone. Five were killed by her own hand.” His jaw tightened briefly, the bond flaring with restrained fury. “When I arrived to rescue her, eight remained. Enzo handled the situation while I rushed Diana to the pack hospital.”
He turned slightly toward his beta. “As I was informed by my beta, five rogues survived my wolf’s attack. Am I right, Enzo?”
“Yes, Alpha,” Enzo replied without hesitation. “Five rogues survived Fenrir’s rage after attacking his mate.”
A stunned silence followed.
Asher’s brows furrowed. “Five?” he repeated slowly. “But only three were killed in the dungeon.”
“Yes,” Talon’s lips curved-not in amusement, but in something far colder. “And that is where my beta’s talents come in.”
He stepped forward, his presence alone pressing down on the room like a gathering storm.
“Enzo always prepares. Always. Especially for situations like this.” Talon’s gaze swept across Alpha Asher, Luna Hazel, and Beta Rafe, then finally to Diana. “Emergencies. Betrayals. Contingencies. This is no different.”
Asher straightened. “What are you saying, Alpha Talon?”
Before Talon could answer, Enzo spoke-smooth, controlled, and deadly precise. “What the Alpha King is saying is that two rogues are still alive.”
Gasps rippled through the room.
“And those two,” Enzo continued, “are very eager to answer questions.”
“That’s impossible,” Asher snapped. “My guards reported only three rogues in the dungeon.”
“Your guards,” Enzo replied evenly, “reported what they were allowed to see.”
Asher’s eyes flashed. “You commanded my warriors without my permission?”
Rage bled into his scent, sharp and volatile.
“I would do anything for my Alpha King and Luna Queen,” Enzo met his stare unflinchingly. “My voice becomes the Alpha King’s voice when he is not present.”
He tilted his head slightly. “And if you recall, Alpha Talon ordered me to take care of the rogues.”
Asher clenched his fists. “That does not give you the right-”
“It gives me the obligation,” Enzo interrupted.

The room went deathly quiet.
“How… how did you hide the other rogues?” Beta Rafe asked, unease plain on his face.
Enzo turned toward him slowly. “I hid them where no one would ever think to look.”
“Where?” Rafe pressed.
Talon’s gaze snapped to him. “Beta Rafe,” he said coolly, “why do you want to know?”
Rafe stiffened. “Alpha King, what your beta did violates our pack’s rights and laws.”
Claim
Talon took a step forward. “Your laws,” he said, voice low and cutting, “became irrelevant the moment my Luna was attacked.”
The weight of his authority slammed into the room. Their wolves including Asher’s instinctively bowed their heads.
Asher swallowed hard but forced himself to speak. “Alpha Talon… I understand why Beta Enzo did what he did. But where are the other rogues? How could he hide them within my pack? Rogues carry a scent. They can’t simply-”
“That,” Enzo said calmly, “is quite simple.”
He folded his arms behind his back. “As Beta of Black Howler Pack, I accepted them as new pack members.”
Silence.
Utter, stunned silence.
“So no one in this pack,” Enzo continued, “can smell them as rogues.”
Hazel’s breath caught audibly.
Asher stared at him. “How… how are you able to do that?”
“As I said earlier,” Talon replied, his voice edged with pride, “my beta has many talents.”
Before anyone could respond, Enzo’s head tilted slightly-as if listening to something unheard.
“Alpha,” he said suddenly, “the royal guards are at the pack entrance.”
Hazel spun toward him. “Royal guards?”
“Yes, Luna Hazel,” Enzo replied coolly. “Did you truly think I would allow my Alpha and new Luna to remain unguarded while a threat exists?”
Hazel’s composure cracked. “But… when you arrived, there were only two of you.”
Enzo raised a brow. “And because of that, you assumed we had no guards?”
Talon’s voice cut in, calm and lethal. “My guards are the elite of the elite, Luna. When they choose to remain unseen, no one sees them.”

Hazel paled.
Clam
“Now,” Talon said, turning back to Asher, “I suggest you mind-link your guards and allow the royal guards entry.”
Asher hesitated.
For the first time since Talon arrived, the Alpha of Crimson Fang Pack realized the truth.
This was no longer his pack.
It was a battlefield.
And Talon Ravenwood had already claimed the ground.
Asher closed his eyes briefly, then opened the mind-link.
‘Stand down,’ he ordered his guards. ‘Allow the royal guards entry.
Moments later, the pressure in the air shifted.
They arrived silently-royal guards materializing from shadows, their presence heavy, disciplined, absolute. Each one radiated lethal precision.
Hazel took an involuntary step back.
Enzo moved to Talon’s side, lowering his voice. “They’re secured, Alpha.”
“Good,” Talon nodded. “Bring the rogues.”
Asher’s heart sank.
Because now he understood.
This was never about rogues.
This was about control.
And Talon had just taken it.
‘Our Alpha is something else, Artemis murmured, her voice a pleased hum inside their shared mind. ‘Look at him. He stands like the world itself answers to him. So majestic. So powerful!
She paused, then added with unmistakable longing, ‘I just hope I can see Fenrir too.’
‘Artemis!’ Diana exclaimed under her breath, heat rushing instantly to her cheeks.
‘What?’ Artemis shot back, unrepentant. ‘Can I not admire our mate? Unlike you, I am not shy about what I feel. There was a teasing lilt to her tone now, deliberate and smug. ‘And if we shifted right now, I would show our mate exactly what I think and feel.’
Diana’s breath hitched. In their shared mind, the image Artemis projected was vivid-too vivid. Fenrir’s massive presence. Talon’s steady gaze. The pull of instinct and bond winding tight and demanding.

Artemis’s emotions spilled freely: admiration, hunger, devotion, pride. It flooded Diana’s senses so suddenly that her entire body reacted.
Warmth spread through her chest, down her spine, pooling low in her belly. Her palms tingled. Her heartbeat quickened.
‘Artemis, stop, Diana whispered, even as she knew the plea was useless.
Artemis only laughed, the sound bright and unapologetic. ‘Why should I? He is ours. And he looks at us like we are his whole world. If you felt what I feel right now, you wouldn’t be telling me to stop.
‘I do feel it,’ Diana muttered. ‘That’s the problem.’
Her stand faltered just slightly as another wave of sensation rolled through her. Pride, possessiveness, a deep aching pull toward their mate. Diana clenched her fingers at her side, grounding herself, reminding herself where they were. Who was watching.
But the bond did not care about timing.
Talon did, and he noticed immediately. He turned toward her, his sharp gaze softening the moment it landed on her face. He could feel the shift through the bond-the fluttering heat, the sudden rush of emotion that didn’t belong to the present moment.
