Chapter Two Hundred Five
If he wanted to attack Black Howler at full strength, the easiest way to do it would be to prevent their allies from coming.
Isolate the Royal Pack. Cut off assistance. Force Talon to defend his territory alone.
Fenrir’s voice became darker.
“If that is his plan… He is trying to isolate us.”
Talon said it aloud this time. Diana looked toward him.
“What?”
Talon turned.
“If Thorne knows you are carrying the pups…”
He moved back toward the desk.
“…then he knows time is limited.”
Diana nodded slowly.
“He has to strike before I give birth.”
“Yes.”
“And if he wants you as vulnerable as possible…”
Talon continued.
“…he will not only attack us.”
Diana’s expression changed.
“He will attack our allies.”
Talon nodded.
“So they cannot send warriors.”
Her eyes narrowed.
“And Damon said the Rogue Kingdom has increased feral activity.” “Exactly.”
A heavy silence settled between them. Diana leaned back in the chair.
“If that is what he is doing… He is smarter than we gave him credit for.”
Talon’s jaw tightened.

“And more brutal.”
Fenrir growled inside him.
“If Thorne’s plan is to isolate us…”
His voice became grave.
“…it is working.”
Talon answered silently.
“Maybe. Not maybe.”
Fenrir paced faster.
“If the allied packs cannot send warriors… If Damon cannot leave his kingdom… If the Royal Pack is attacked… We fight alone.”
Talon looked out the window again.
“With what we have.”
“Yes.”
Fenrir’s anger grew.
“No outside warriors. No reinforcements. No Rogue King. Only Black Howler.”
Talon slowly nodded. Then another thought occurred to him.
“But there is a hole to that strategy.”
Fenrir paused.
“What?”
“If Thorne is attacking all our allies…”
Talon’s eyes narrowed.
“…then his army is divided too.”
Fenrir went quiet. Talon began working through the idea.
“He does not have unlimited ferals. He has a large number. But not endless. If he sends hundreds to the Rogue Kingdom… Hundreds to Stone Claw… Hundreds to Crimson Fang… And more to every allied territory … Then he cannot send his entire army here.”
Fenrir considered that.
“We will both be weakened.”
“Yes.”
Talon’s expression became grim.

“If this is his plan, then he is trying to create equal footing.”
“No allies for us. No full feral army for him.”
Fenrir growled.
“Then he comes himself.”
Talon’s eyes hardened.
“That is exactly what I think.”

Diana slowly stood. Talon immediately looked toward her. She saw the warning before he even spoke.
“Talon.”
“Sit.”
“No.”
“You were told to rest.”
“I have rested.”
“Not enough.”
She gave him a look. Talon wisely decided not to continue. Diana walked toward him.
“So Thorne spreads his ferals across the allied packs..”
“Yes.”
“…keeping their warriors occupied.”
“Yes.”
“And keeping Damon occupied.”
“Yes.”
“Then he takes whatever ferals he has remaining and comes personally.”
Talon nodded.
“Because he knows this may be his best chance to kill you.”
Diana placed one hand over her stomach. Her expression did not show fear.
Only calculation.
“Then we make sure he regrets coming.”
Talon looked at her.
“That part we agree on.”

“Time passed. Neither of them noticed how much. Talon contacted patrol leaders. Checked border
reports. Reviewed warrior placements. Ordered additional supplies moved near the defensive lines.
Diana remained beside him despite his repeated attempts to send her back to bed.
Then-
Enzo’s voice entered Talon’s mind.
“Alpha.”
Talon immediately stopped what he was doing.
“Yes?”
There was something in Enzo’s tone. Something Talon did not like.
“I contacted every allied pack.”
Talon waited. Diana noticed his expression and moved closer. Enzo continued.
“None of them can send warriors.”
Talon’s jaw tightened.
“Why?”
“Feral attacks.”
The answer confirmed everything.
“Every pack?”
“Every one I contacted.”
Enzo sounded frustrated.
“Some are being attacked almost nightly. Others have feral group’s gathering outside their borders. One Alpha told me he was preparing to contact us for assistance before I called.”
Diana watched Talon’s face carefully.
“What is Enzo saying?”
Talon held up one hand. Enzo continued.
“They were actually going to request Royal Pack warriors. But when I explained that we are preparing for
our own attack…”
He paused.
“… they understood we cannot spare anyone.”
Talon closed his eyes.

“Thorne isolated us.”
“Yes.”
”
The answer tasted bitter. But Talon was not defeated. If anything, the confirmation clarified the battlefield.
He reached back through the mind link.
“As I suspected.”
Enzo remained silent.
“Prepare every warrior.”
Talon’s Alpha voice sharpened.
“No unnecessary patrols outside our territory. Bring everyone closer to the core border defenses.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
“Continue training. Rotate warriors so everyone is rested. Double the guards on every border. I want scouts posted farther back as secondary detection.”
“Understood.”
Talon’s gaze moved toward Diana. Then his voice became colder.
“And expect Thorne himself.”
Enzo was quiet for a second.
“You think he will personally lead the attack?”
“Yes.”
“I think everything happening right now is deliberate.”
Talon began pacing.
“He has divided his feral army among our allies. He is keeping them busy so they cannot send support. He is doing the same to the Rogue Kingdom. He wants Black Howler isolated.”
Enzo swore softly.
“But by dividing his army…”
“Exactly.”
Talon stopped.

“He is limiting himself too. He cannot attack us with everything. He will have fewer ferals here. But…”
Talon’s eyes darkened.
“… he will compensate for the difference with his own magic.”
Enzo understood.
“So this will not be another border test.”
“No.”
Talon’s voice became final.
“This will be the real attack.”
Diana moved closer to him. Talon continued.
