Chapter One Hundred Ninety
Talon’s expression darkened immediately. Fenrir growled faintly inside him. Even Diana felt Artemis surge with anger. Ravenna opened her eyes again.
“I thought…
She pressed her lips together.
“I thought if I told him about our child, it might reach him. That maybe… Just maybe… The man I loved would hear me beneath Gideon’s voice.”
She touched her stomach.
“So I told him. I told him I was pregnant. I told him the child was his. I told him I was still his mate. I reminded him that I had never left him.”
Her breathing became uneven.
“I begged him to remember me.”
Diana’s eyes filled with sympathy.
“What did he say?”
Ravenna looked away.
“He did not believe me.”
Her answer was barely audible.
“He looked at me… But he did not see Ravenna. He saw Agatha. He believed I was trying to deceive him.”
She wiped angrily at the tears falling down her face.
“The darkness had twisted his memories so completely that he believed the child we had prayed for… was already dead.”
Diana’s stomach tightened.
“He thinks your baby is the child Gideon lost?”
“In his mind, yes.”
Ravenna nodded.
“He remembers things that never happened to him. He remembers losing Agatha. He remembers losing the future Gideon believed belonged to him. He remembers a child that Gideon never had. And those memories feel more real to him than I do.”
Her voice shattered.
“My mate forgot me.”
Chapter Opered Ninety
The room became unbearably quiet. Ravenna pressed one hand over her mouth as tears escaped.
“My Thorne… The man who knew every part of me… The man who could recognize my magic from across an entire kingdom… The mate who slept beside me for years…”
She shook her head.
“He looked directly into my eyes… And he did not know me.”
Diana’s heart broke for her. She moved closer. Ravenna quickly wiped her tears, as if embarrassed by
them.
“But I still chose to come here.”
She straightened.
“I chose to stand with you. Not because I stopped loving him.”
Her pale eyes met Diana’s.
“But because helping Thorne destroy innocent wolves will not bring him back. If I join him… If I excuse everything he is doing because he is my mate… Then I am not saving him. I am helping the curse destroy what remains of him.”
Diana nodded slowly.
“You are doing the right thing.”
“I know.”
Ravenna smiled sadly.
“But knowing something is right does not make it hurt less.”
Her hand returned to her belly.
“I still love him.”
Her voice softened.
“I still want him beside me when our child is born. I want him to hold our baby. I want to see his face when he realizes that everything we prayed for actually happened.”
She let out a broken laugh.
“I used to imagine him being terrified to hold the baby because he would think the child was too fragile.”
Diana smiled faintly. Ravenna’s expression softened with the memory.
“I want him to remember our home. Our life. The nights we spent talking until sunrise. The arguments over stupid things. The peace we had before the curse returned.”
She breathed deeply.
“I want him to remember that he was happy. That he was loved. That he was not Gideon.”
Chapter Ope+miked Ninety
Her voice became firmer.
“And I want our child to know the man I knew. Not the monster Gideon’s darkness is turning him into.”
Diana reached for Ravenna’s hand.
“I am sorry.”
Ravenna looked at her.
“I am so sorry you were forced into this.”
Diana squeezed her fingers.
“You should never have been forced to choose between protecting me and protecting your mate.”
Ravenna gave a faint smile.
“And yet here we are.”
“Yes.”
Diana sighed. Inside her mind, Artemis had been pacing angrily. Finally, the Silver Wolf growled.
“I really need to bite Thorne.”
Diana almost laughed.
“Artemis…”
“No.”
The wolf sounded offended.
Clam
“He threatened Ravenna. He threatened her pup. He poisoned us. He threatened our pup before we even knew our pup existed.”
Her growl deepened.
“I deserve one bite.”
Diana tried not to smile.
“One?”
“One very hard bite.”
“And where exactly do you plan to bite him?”
“Somewhere he will remember forever.”
Diana immediately stopped that line of questioning.
“Fine.”
Artemis sounded satisfied.

“We will bite him.”
Diana looked toward Ravenna again. A mischievous smile slowly appeared on her face.
“You know…”
Ravenna raised an eyebrow.
“What?”
“If we manage to break the curse and save Thorne…”
Her smile widened.
“…he is going to have a very difficult life afterward.”
Ravenna blinked. Diana continued.
“Because Artemis has already decided she wants to bite him.”
Ravenna stared at her. Then, unexpectedly, she laughed. A real laugh. It came through the tears. Diana smiled.
“And I still intend to punch him. Hard. Very hard.”
Ravenna wiped at her eyes while laughing.
“I will not stop you.”
“Good.”
Diana nodded approvingly.
“He deserves it.”
“He does.”
“And then…”
Diana’s expression softened.
