The Silver Wolf (Diana and Talon) novel Chapter 119

Chapter One Hundred Nineteen

Clam

Willow stood still for a moment, her eyes lingering on the closed door Damon had just walked through. Something in her chest tightened-unexpected, unfamiliar. Not anger. Not quite. More like…

understanding. Or maybe the beginning of it.

“I’m sorry about that, Willow.” Diana’s voice broke through her thoughts.

Willow turned, her brows knitting slightly. “Sorry for what?”

Diana shifted slightly against the pillows, wincing just a little before steadying herself.

“For Damon,” she said quietly. “He’s still your mate… and the king of this kingdom. And I just spoke to him like-”

“Like a true Luna?” Willow cut in gently.

Diana paused. Willow’s gaze softened, but her voice stayed firm.

“You have nothing to apologize for, Diana. Everything you said..” she let out a small breath, “…was the truth.”

Silence followed, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. It was honest. Diana studied her for a moment before speaking again.

“Still,” she said, quieter now, “we are not in our territory. There may be rules here we don’t fully understand. Boundaries we might be crossing. But even so…” her eyes flickered toward Talon briefly, “…I couldn’t just stand there and let Damon speak to Talon like that.” Her lips pressed together slightly. “He’s my mate. Even if he is being an annoying male.”

“Hey.” Talon’s protest came immediately, earning a faint smile from Diana-and a soft laugh from Willow.

“I understand,” Willow said after a moment, her tone thoughtful now. “Damon was in the wrong. I just… don’t know what’s gotten into him.”

Diana tilted her head slightly. “Maybe he’s scared.”

Willow blinked. “Scared?” She shook her head faintly. “Damon? That man doesn’t even know how to be

scared.”

Diana’s lips curved just slightly. “Everyone knows fear, Willow. It just looks different depending on the person. He doesn’t know why we’re here.”

Willow stilled.

“Well… he knows you were attacked,” she said slowly. “But no… Talon hasn’t told him the real reason.”

Diana nodded.

“Exactly.” Her gaze sharpened slightly. “Think about it from his perspective.”

Willow frowned, but she didn’t interrupt.

“We arrive at his borders without warning,” Diana continued. “You-his mate-are already here. And

suddenly, your Alpha and Luna show up, injured, chased by feral rogues. And we haven’t explained why.”

Willow’s expression shifted. Subtle. Understanding creeping in.

“You think he’s worried…” She started.

“That we came here to take you back,” Diana finished softly.

The words settled heavily between them. Willow’s eyes widened slightly-not in shock, but realization.

“What other reason would make sense to him?” Diana added. “Why else would the Alpha King come all this way, unannounced? He might think we’re here to bring you home.”

Willow swallowed. “And if he believes that…”

Diana’s voice softened further. “…then yes, Willow. He’s scared.”

Silence stretched. Because suddenly- it made sense. Damon’s tension. His sharpness. The way he had reacted earlier.

“… Maybe,” Willow murmured quietly.

Talon, who had been silent, scoffed lightly. “Or maybe he’s just uncivilized.”

“Talon.” Diana didn’t even raise her voice. But the warning was clear. “Behave.”

Talon huffed, but didn’t argue further.

Willow let out a small breath, then looked back at Diana:

“Do you really think that’s why?” she asked. “That he’s scared of losing me?”

Diana held her gaze. “Yes.” No hesitation. No doubt. “And you need to decide what that means to you.”

That made Willow still. Completely. Because this wasn’t just about Damon anymore. Or Talon. Or the packs. This was about her.

“Willow,” Diana said gently, “do you truly plan to stay here?”

The question hung in the air. Heavy. Important. Real.

“After we speak with Damon… after everything is said… will you leave with us?”

Talon shifted slightly beside her, but didn’t interrupt. He wanted to. But he didn’t. Because this- this was Willow’s choice.

Willow looked at Diana. Really looked at her. And once again, she felt it. That quiet strength. That balance of compassion and power.

Diana wasn’t just a Luna. She was what a Luna should be. Someone who listened. Who protected. Who understood. Someone people could lean on-and still feel strong beside. Willow had felt it the moment they met. And now… she felt it even more.

Her gaze softened. Then steadied.

“Yes.”

Diana didn’t react Immediately. She simply waited.

“I want to stay here,” Willow continued. Her voice wasn’t hesitant anymore. It was grounded.

“I think… I can do more here.” She glanced briefly at Talon-her brother. Then back at Diana.

“I’ve always been the Alpha King’s sister.” A small breath. “Important, yes… but still in his shadow.” Her eyes shifted slightly, thoughtful.

“But here…” Another pause. “I can become something more.” Her voice grew stronger.

Charm

“Not just someone connected to power… but someone who holds it. Someone who uses it to protect, to lead, to help.” A faint smile touched her lips.

“And Damon…” That name carried weight now. “He is my mate.”

She didn’t say it bitterly. Or reluctantly. Just… honestly.

“The Goddess chose him for me.” A pause. “And I don’t think she made a mistake.”

Diana watched her carefully. Then asked softly-

“Then why not claim him?”

Willow froze. Just for a second. Diana continued, her tone still calm.

“Why not end both your misery?” A small, knowing look. “Don’t worry about your brother.” She glanced briefly at Talon..

“He’s your brother… not your keeper.”

“Diana…” Talon’s warning came, low and strained. But Diana didn’t back down.

“Talon,” she said, turning to him fully now, “you have to stop.” Her tone wasn’t harsh. But it was firm.

“Damon is Willow’s mate.” A beat. “And whether you like him or not… that won’t change.” Talon’s jaw tightened.

“She deserves the chance to figure this out on her own.” Another pause. “And you…” Her voice softened just slightly. “…need to find a way to have a working relationship with him.”
