Chapter 218: Enzo
Bella pov
He did not answer, instead he walked to the door, pulled it open, and stepped out into the hallway.
A few minutes later, I heard voices in the corridor near my office. One voice was short and cold, and the other was calm and surprised.
Then, my assistant appeared at my office door. She looked very worried and tried to talk to me.
“Bella, I am so sorry, he just walked right past” she started to say.
Before she could finish, a young man stepped up right behind her. I looked up and signaled to my assistant with a small wave of my hand, letting her know it was okay to leave us. She nodded and stepped back.
The young man looked a bit messy. He had warm brown eyes and was holding two cups of coffee.
“Hi,” he said, smiling a little. “I am the second brother. My name is Enzo Marchetti.”
“I know who you are,” I said, looking at him. “You look very similar to your elder brother.”
He smiled even wider. “Don’t worry, I know you did a background check on me and my brother. So, it is no surprise you recognize me.”
I cleared my throat, then I arched my brows at him, completely surprised. I was never expecting him to show up like this.
“I don’t remember scheduling a meeting with you, Enzo,” I said.
“Please pardon me,” he said. “I came here with my brother Olivier, but I just saw how he walked out of here so angrily. If you don’t mind, I brought coffee. Can I come in?”
I looked at him for a long moment. Then, I stood up from my desk.
“Close the door,” I said.
Enzo closed the heavy office door behind him, clicking it shut. He did not rush to sit down. Instead, he stood by the door and waited for me to speak first.
As I watched him, I noticed right away that he was much more polite than his older brother. Olivier had walked in like he owned the place and sat down without an invitation. Enzo just stood there, giving me a respectful nod.
It made me think about my investigation. Sebastien was right about his second son. Enzo was way more carefree and relaxed than Olivier. He did not carry the heavy weight of the family business on his
shoulders, and it showed in his easy smile.
“Please, have a seat,” I said, gesturing to the chair across from my desk.
Enzo smiled warmly. “Thank you,” he said.
He walked over and sat down, carefully setting the two cups of coffee on the desk between us. He pushed one of the cups toward me.

don’t really know your exact taste,” he said, looking at the cup. “But the barista downstairs said this is your usual order. If you don’t mind taking it, that is.”
I looked at the cup, then up at him, not moving to pick it up just yet
Enzo let out a soft laugh. “Don’t worry, it is not poisoned,” he said.
I raised an eyebrow, a small smile tugging at the corner of my lips.
“I am serious,” Enzo added, his face turning a little more earnest. “I would never do something like that. I can’t stoop so low, I promise you.”
“It’s okay,” I said, my smile growing a bit more natural as I reached out and took the warm cup from the desk. “I believe you.”
I took a small sip. It was exactly how I liked it. I set the cup back down and leaned back in my chair, looking at the younger Marchetti brother. He was a complete contrast to the angry young man who had just stormed out of my office.
“So, Enzo,” I said, keeping my voice calm and direct. “Why are you really here?”
Instead of answering right away, Enzo’s eyes wandered to the corner of my desk. He pointed a finger. “Is that a Parasaurolophus?”
The sudden question completely caught me off guard. He really was much more carefree than I thought.
“It’s Tom’s,” I said.
Enzo arched his brow, looking confused.
“I mean my son,” I explained, realizing I hadn’t mentioned him. “He owns it, I mean I have a son.”
“Oh,” Enzo said, his face lighting up.
“Yes, it belongs to him,” I said. “He rotates them. It was a Triceratops last week.”
Enzo nodded seriously, as though this were important information.
Then, he looked back at me with that same openness. “Now, back to your question about why I am here.”
“Yes,” I said.
“I want to apologize if Olivier was rude to you,” Enzo said softly. “Olivier is being awful right now. I just want you to know that none of this is your fault. Olivier is blaming you because Dad cried for the first time in our lives. But that is really about Dad and his own past, not you.”
I looked at him, surprised by his honesty. “You’re very direct.”
“Life goes faster this way.” He said as he took a sip of his own coffee. “I am not usually like this. Direct, I mean. Usually, I spend a lot of time in art galleries looking pensive and having opinions about light. But this felt like a situation where being slow would just waste both of our time.”
