Chapter 205: In the Dark

Bella POV

We lay in the dark together, both of us doing the same thing we had done every night for weeks lying awake, pretending to sleep.

I turned toward Caleb and pressed my mouth to the side of his neck, just below his ear, slow and deliberate. He made a quiet sound in his throat.

“Bella…” he whispered.

I didn’t answer. I just kissed him again, then let my hand slide down his chest. My fingers slipped under the waistband of his sweatpants and wrapped around his c**k. He was already half-hard. I stroked him slowly, feeling him thicken and throb in my grip.

Caleb groaned softly. “We should talk about today.”

“We already did,” I murmured, pressing closer. I nibbled on his earlobe, sucking lightly the way I knew he liked. “I don’t want to talk anymore tonight.”

His hand came to my waist, gripping me tightly as I continued stroking him. He was fully hard now, hot and heavy in my palm.

“Bella,” he said again, voice strained. “You just found out Margaret wasn’t your mother. That Richard wasn’t your father. That your real mother”

“I know what I found out,” I cut in, kissing his neck as my hand stroked his c**k faster. “And right now I need my husband.”

He turned his face, catching my lips in a deep kiss, his tongue stroking mine, hungry and desperate. But after a moment he caught my wrist and gently pulled my hand away.

“We can’t,” he said, breathing hard. “Not like this.”

I stared at him in the dim light. “Why?”

Caleb turned on his side to face me fully. “Sex isn’t a healthy way to process pain, Bella, You’re hurting. I don’t want to be something you use to forget tonight.”

I froze as the words hit me.

“You think I’m using you?” My voice shook as I sat up. “What do you think of me right now, Caleb? That I’m so broken I’d fuck you just to feel something?”

I threw the covers back and stood up, anger burning through me as I headed for the door.

“Bella, wait” Caleb was out of bed in seconds. He reached the door before me and pressed his hand against it, holding it shut. “Please. Calm down.”

I turned to face him, eyes stinging. “Do you also think less of me now? Am I no longer attractive to you?”

Caleb looked startled. “Where is that coming from?”

tried to push him away from the door and grab the knob, but he caught both my hands gently but firmly.

“Bella, stop. Please.”

I glared at him, chest beaving. “You haven’t had sex with me in so long. And now you’re telling me sex isn’t healthy? After everything I learned today?”

Caleb rubbed a hand over his face, looking pained. “Why are you talking like this?”

“Because I feel unwanted!” I shouted, tears spilling over. “My whole life was a lie, and now even my husband doesn’t want me.”

“Don’t say that,” Caleb said, his voice cracking. “I will always want you. In fact, I have always wanted you.”

I looked at him and scoffed. “Your actions don’t match your words, honestly. For all I know, you might be having an affair.”

Caleb’s eyes widened. “Don’t, Bella. I have always been faithful, and you know that. I have been completely transparent and respected your wishes.”

“Caleb, right now, I would prefer you just let me leave,” I said, looking away from him. “It’s exhausting arguing with you.”

His expression cracked. Without another word, he crushed his lips to mine. All resistance died inside me instantly. The kiss was fierce, almost desperate. I kissed him back just as hard, fingers threading into his hair and tugging.

“I’m sorry,” he whispered against my mouth between kisses. “I’m so sorry if I ever made you feel unwanted. That was never my intention, I just thought”

“Stop thinking,” I said, pressing my fingers to his lips/”And next time, ask for my opinion first.”

“I will,” he promised.

We resumed kissing as he walked me backward toward the bed. The kiss was deep and urgent, our mouths sliding together hotly, tongues stroking and tasting. Every step made my heart race faster. I could feel how much he wanted me in the way he kissed me – like he was trying to pour all his love and apology

into it.

Caleb’s hands roamed down my back and pulled me tighter against him. We kept moving, lips never parting, until the back of my legs hit the mattress. He stopped walking but didn’t stop kissing me. Instead, he tilted his head and sucked on the side of my neck, hard enough to make me gasp. His tongue swirled over the sensitive skin while one of his hands slipped under my silk nightdress.

His warm palm cupped my breast, thumb brushing over my already hard n****e. He squeezed gently, then rubbed it in slow circles. Pleasure shot straight between my legs.

“Caleb…” I moaned, my voice shaky.

“Shhh,” he whispered against my neck, sucking harder. His other hand joined the first, pushing my nightdress higher so he could rub and knead both my breasts. “You’re so sensitive tonight.”

I was soaked. The constant teasing – his mouth on my neck, his hands playing with my breasts – was driving me crazy. I couldn’t take it anymore.
