She kissed me again, deep and hungry, while continuing to stroke me – smooth, steady movements that made my c**k twitch in her fist. I was fully hard now, leaking steadily and making her palm slick.

“Tom is five doors down,” I managed, even as I thrust gently into her hand.

“He’s asleep,” she murmured, tightening her grip slightly.

“Bella…” I caught her wrist with a ragged breath. It took everything in me to stop her. “We can’t go any further tonight. Not with him here.”

She let out a soft, frustrated sound but released me. Her fingers gave one last teasing squeeze before pulling out of my pants.

“You started it,” she said, clearly amused.

“I only kissed your neck.”

“Exactly.”

I lay on my back, chest rising and falling fast, my c**k still painfully hard and aching, tenting my sweatpants.

“You can’t just”

“Goodnight,” she said serenely and turned over.

I stared at the ceiling. “I apologise.”

“Accepted,” she replied, already sounding half asleep.

I closed my eyes, finding it difficult to sleep.

At 7:00 AM, Tom burst into our room with messy hair. He jumped onto the bed between us. He was loud and ready for the day to start.

“Dad!” Tom said. “Can a Spinosaurus beat a Megalosaurus in big water? The Spinosaurus has a long nose, but the Megalosaurus is super heavy. Which one wins?”

I sat up. Beside me, Bella pulled the covers over her face.

“In deep water?” I asked.

“Yes. Like the deep part of the pool.”

“Then the Spinosaurus wins,” I said. “The long nose helps it catch fish in the dark.”

Tom pointed at me. “I knew it!” He spun around toward the door. “Grace! Grace, I have to tell you!”

Grace was on the floor by the door. She had tried to stand up, but her legs gave out and she plop-dropped onto her bottom, then crawled the rest of the way. She looked wide awake and happy to see her brother. When she saw him, she made a happy noise and reached out.

Tem scrambled off the bed and knelt down next to her. “The Spinosaurus wins,” he whispered to her seriously. “In the big water. Remember that.”

Grace grabbed his finger..

“She knows,” Tom said, standing up. “Can we have pancakes now?”

Bella pulled the cover down and opened one eye checking the time. “It’s seven in the morning.”

“Pancakes are for seven o’clock,” Tom said, looking very sure of himself.

“Is that a fact?” I asked.

“Yes.” He looked at Grace, who was still sitting by the door frame watching us. “Grace wants pancakes

too.”

“Grace is one,” Bella said. “Grace just wants whatever is closest to her.”

“She wants pancakes,” Tom said. “I can tell.”

Right on cue, Grace made a happy noise’at nothing at all.

“See?” Tom said.

I looked at Bella over his head, and she looked back at me, It was that specific look-the one that meant / can’t believe this is our life, and I wouldn’t change a thing.

“Fine,” Bella said. “Pancakes.”
