Chapter 484
Snowflakes
“What?”
“Autopsy.” I breathed to Eshan. “That was Rasha’s last word. She wanted us to run an autopsy on her.”
“That’s…” He wanted to disagree, call it a bluff, but he knows how crazy some people can be. He was about to speak when the elevator doors ahead opened, and everyone rushed forward, including Sera.
“Snow!” She pulled me into a quick hug after checking me for wounds or bullet injuries and finding none. “My goodness, you have blood on your hands.”
“They’re not mine,” I said, swallowing. “Sera, we need to talk.”
I quickly pulled her to a safe corner while the others watched in confusion, wondering what I had to say.
“Are you alright? You need to…”
“Rasha. She’s dead.”
Sera froze and searched my eyes. A deep frown of concern etched across her face before she nodded, biting her lower lip.
“This case is becoming bloodier than any we’ve handled, How can anyone shoot at the H.O.W.L building? And what type of bullet penetrates the walls?”
I shake my head, unable to understand or even process any of it. I bite my lower lip, running my fingers through my hair before taking Sera’s hand again. The sight of Rasha’s head bursting was still unbelievable.
“We need to do an autopsy.”
Hearing that, Sera stopped and looked at me.
“Autopsy is for finding what killed her. We already know that.’
*It can also be used to find anything in her body that can help us take down Feroz. That’s what she said before she breathed her last in my arms, Sera. The forensic team needs to do it.”
She searched my eyes, confused, overwhelmed by everything happening at once. Then she looked away and swallowed hard. As the only daughter of H.O.W.L’s director, she knows how much solving a case properly matters. Her father’s era must not become the worst.
“We’ll need Mr. Sonny’s permission,” she said finally, turning back to me. I swallowed.
“Maybe we can do it in secret first, before letting anyone know. Sera, the people who killed Rasha knew the exact angle to shoot from. They knew exactly where the interrogation room was located and…”
“Are you saying there’s a traitor in our midst? In the team?” she asked quietly, shocked. I didn’t respond. I bit my lower lip to hold it back.
Finisher
Iuldn’t tell them yet how I discovered that Wrinks was once a traitor too. I lowered my gaze, realizing the moment was coming when I’d have to reveal everything.
“Let’s do it then,” I murmured, and Sera left at once. Minutes passed as I stood there, staring into blank space, until Mr. Sonny, the deputy director, approached quickly.
“I heard the request and I’ve approved it, Snow,” he said gently, and I nodded. He placed a soothing palm on my shoulder. “You should go home and rest. You’ve had enough today.”
“No, I can’t.”
“You saw someone die right in front of you. You’re only lucky you’re still alive. Go frome and rest. We’ll finish up here.”
“But…”
“Snow…” Eshan’s voice came quietly, and Mr. Sonny nodded to him before leaving me with my brother, who pulled me into a tender hug.
“You should go home and rest. What you witnessed was horror.”
I sighed, unable to argue. When he pulled back, I said softly, “I’ll take a taxi.”
“No. I’ll call Kashi to pick you up,” he replied, kissing my hair.

I allowed the water to wash down on me, sliding from my hair to my shoulders. I stood there even after I turned off the shower, a shaky sigh escaping my lips./
It felt like a nightmare, like something unreal that I expected to wake up from. But I didn’t. Rasha died, shot at the end, collapsing right in front of me.
Kashi came immediately, all worry and concern. He was gentle, and Eshan stayed with me until Kashi arrived and drove me home under his watchful eyes. Only then did he return to oversee the autopsy process, which Sera was supervising.
I bit my lower lip, wrapped a towel around myself, and stepped out of the bathroom tired and worn out. As I emerged into my bedroom, I paused, startled.
Kashi was inside waiting, concern etched on his face.
“Are you okay?” he asked, walking up to me gently. I nodded.
“Just tired.”
“Will you have dinner?”
I shook my head, letting him rub my back as I moved toward my wardrobe to pick out my nightdress. I paused when I noticed new ones.
-ke? What some?”
Finisher
Idded gently, and hic left. I pulled off my tewel to get dressed but the door suddenly opened and Kashi stepped back in quickly.
“Snow, would you take any…” He stopped gradually as his eyes landed on my breasts. A small frown creased his brows.
