Chapter 450

Cupid

I stared at the screen of my cellphone far too long, feeling the pressure in my chest build and debating endlessly, until the door opened and Evalina appeared at the doorway.

“The accountant is here. Let’s go.”

I stayed frozen a moment, hating myself for too many things at once, before leaving the phone behind and brushing past her to step outside. The cold wind cut through the air, sharp against my skin. I stood beneath it, staring across the long lane ahead.

Draven Estate stretched wide, so wide it disappeared beyond sight, and I watched Evalina head toward a section I had never bothered to explore. I followed her quietly, noting the strange mix of energies in the air. All tribes of the werewolf territory were present here.

We reached an outdoor garden. It was tidy, almost too arranged, soft, clean, beautiful in a way meant to impress. A man was already seated there. His big eyes peered at me from behind his glasses.

His aura was unmistakably human, dull without tribal markings, but there was calculation in him, an awareness by how closely he examined me.

“Mr. Godlike is here,” he greeted, smiling crisply as he extended his hand.

“Cupid,” I responded while taking it.

“Yes?”

“Call me Cupid,” I repeated, settling into my seat across him.

“I am Jave too. Please, don’t be too polite.”

Evalina, dressed oddly conservative today, came to sit beside me, leaning into closeness even family would misread. Perhaps she was right to because at that moment, I could feel Snowflakes slipping from my grasp, likely angry and ready to give up.

“You came early. I’ll tell the maid to bring tea,” she remarked, signalling a woman waiting nearby. The maid hurried off, and Evalina turned to Jave with a polished smile.

“Have you drafted the contract? We will be joining hands with the Godlikes.”

“Yes… Eva, I must tell you something about the request,” Jave began, but Evalina instantly lifted a brow, warning him into silence. Jave, unfortunately, was the kind who couldn’t read a hint. “The finest purest dust is not actually provided by the Dravens. It is owned by…”

“I asked you a question. Did you draft the contract?” Evalina cut sharply, and I paused to register the tone shift.

Something was wrong. Did my father know this? If the Dravens didn’t produce the purest dust, then who did? Who had that power? Who owns the stash.

“I made the contract,” Jave answered quickly, unzipping his bag. He laid the documents on the table, and Evalina snatched the pen to sign it without hesitation.

She turned the papers toward me, placing the pen beside it, expecting me to seal the Godlike Mafia Empire to the Dravens with a stroke.

I knew this was what my father wanted. Once I signed, our mafia empire would be bound business partners, and maybe more than that.

I stared at the document, torn, then my father’s voice echoed in my mind.
