Chapter 58

ASTRA

“Hehe, your date is here,” Jade nudged me with her elbow, grinning like a devil.

1 looked at her, then followed her gaze toward the big front window. Jason was standing beside his car, holding a small bouquet of white and pink flowers, looking effortlessly handsome in a light blue button-up.

My eyes went wide and my cheeks instantly burned hot.

“I… it’s not a date,” I stammered quickly. “It’s just a normal outing.”

“Girl, please,” Philemon chuckled from behind the bar, wiping a glass. “That man did not bring flowers for a ‘normal outing.”

Jade laughed and grabbed my arm. “Come on, don’t keep him waiting. You’ve been working hard all day.”

Before I could protest, they dragged me toward the staff locker room. Jade helped me out of my uniform while I changed back into the clothes I’d worn earlier.

Jade looked me up and down and raised an eyebrow. “That’s what you’re wearing?”

I looked down at myself, suddenly self-conscious. “It’s what I wore today and like I said, it’s just a friendly outing…”

She sighed but smiled softly. “You’re telling me you don’t want more? He’s so handsome, Astra.”

I smiled shyly, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. “He is very handsome… but I couldn’t dream.”

Jade gave me a knowing look but didn’t push.

Carla, the manager, had surprisingly let me leave early after Jade and Philemon both offered to cover the rest of my shift. 1 thanked them quietly, grabbed my bag, and headed out.

The second I stepped outside, Jason’s face lit up with a warm smile. He walked toward me, holding out the bouquet.

“For you,” he said softly, that charming accent making my stomach flutter.

I took the flowers, cheeks flushing. “You shouldn’t have…”

I brought them to my nose and inhaled. They smelled fresh and sweet.

“They’re beautiful,” I whispered, blushing harder.

Jason stepped closer, gently stroking my cheek with his thumb, his violet eyes soft.

“I wanted to,” he murmured.

For a moment, everything felt… nice.

Then suddenly, every hair on my body stood on end.

A chill ran down my spine.

I turned my head slowly.

Zane was walking straight toward us from the parking lot, his tall, broad frame cutting through the evening light like a storm cloud. His jaw was tight, green eyes locked on Jason’s hand still touching my cheek.

Chapter 58

The temperature seemed to drop ten degrees.

Jason noticed my expression and turned slightly, his smile turning to a frown.

But I couldn’t look away from Zane.

He looked like he wanted to commit murder.

My stomach dropped.

I quickly grabbed Jason’s hand and pulled it down.

“L-let’s go,” I whispered urgently, tugging him toward his car.

Jason’s brow furrowed, clearly confused by my sudden panic, but started turning with me.

“Where the fuck do you think you’re going, Trash-tra?”

Zane’s voice cut through the parking lot like a whip.

I stiffened but kept walking, heart hammering.

Before we could take two more steps, a strong hand grabbed my arm and yanked me backward hard. I stumbled into Zane’s side, his grip like iron around my upper arm.

Jason whirled around instantly.

“What the hell?!” he snapped, eyes wide with shock. “Let her go!”

Zane didn’t even look at him.

His burning gaze was locked on me.

“Didn’t I warn you?” he asked softly.

I tried to pull away, breathing fast.

“You’ve lost your mind!” I hissed, voice shaking. “I’m not your servant or your puppet, Zane. Let me go!”

Zane snorted, a dark, humorless sound.

“You’re my fucking puppet if I want you to be,” he said coldly. “And you work for me.”

“I work for your parents!” I shot back, trying to twist out of his grip.

“Same thing.”

His fingers tightened.

“Since you got off work early tonight,” he continued, voice dripping with arrogance, “you’re starting tutoring right now.”

My eyes went wide.

“No! No, this is my free time! My life cannot revolve around you, Zane. I’ll start tutoring tomorrow. So get your hand off

me!”

I tried to yank away again, but he held me tightly, refusing to let go.

Jason stepped forward and grabbed my free hand, pulling me toward him.

Chapter 58

“What the hell?” Jason bit out. “Let her go. Ashton.”

Now I was stuck in the middle, Zane gripping one arm, Jason holding the other both of them glaring at each other over my head-like they were ready to fight.

The tension was suffocating.

Zane’s stare burned into Jason’s hand where it rested on mine.

“You’ve got some fucking nerve,” he bit out.

My heart was racing so hard I felt dizzy.

This was spiraling out of control.

And I was trapped right in the middle of it.

Jason’s jaw clenched. “I said let her go, Ashton.”

Zane’s eyes flicked back to me, his restraint hanging by a thread, before he looked at Jason again with pure venom.

“You want her?” Zane let out a slow, mocking laugh. “Too fucking bad. I had my tongue down her throat last night. She was shaking, soaked, and whimpering against my door like a desperate little slut so she’s mine.”

My eyes went wide in absolute horror.

A sharp, humiliated gasp escaped me.

“Zane!” I cried, voice cracking.

People around the parking lot were starting to stare. A few customers walking toward The Gridiron slowed down, whispering.

Jason looked completely shocked, his face paling for a second before anger took over. But he didn’t let go of my hand.

“Zane, I’m not going anywhere with you,” I said, voice trembling with rage and embarrassment. “You’re disgusting and a horrible person. You think because you’re rich you can get anything you want? You don’t own me!”

Something flickered in Zane’s eyes. Something sharp and unreadable. It vanished so quickly I wasn’t sure I’d seen it at all.

Then he smirked and finally released my arm.

Jason immediately wrapped a protective arm around my shoulders, pulling me against his side.

Zane took one last long look at me, his gaze dragging over Jason’s arm around me like he wanted to rip it off before he turned and walked away.

His broad back looked tense as he got into his car. The engine roared to life, and he sped off without another word.

I stood there shaking, humiliated, cheeks burning as a few people whispered and stared.

Jason’s arm stayed around me, warm and steady.

“Are you okay?” he asked softly, voice full of concern.

I nodded weakly, but I wasn’t.
