Mason returned to the armchair, straightening his shirt while Lucas fixed his hair and glared across the room at him. I hadn’t even finished putting the lamp back where it belonged before Lucas started laughing.

Mon held out for another few seconds before joining him.

Idiots.

The penthouse hadn’t been this loud before they arrived, and despite every threat I’d made to throw them out, I wasn’t in any hurry to see it empty again.

Lucas reached for the remote as though the fight had never happened. “So we’re staying.”

It wasn’t a question.

“No.”

He turned on the television anyway while Mason settled deeper into the armchair, and I decided it wasn’t worth arguing with either of them.

My phone vibrated again before they could find something else to destroy, but instead of Dad’s name, a notification appeared across the screen.

My thumb lingered over it before I dismissed it, only to find Lucas watching me when I lifted my head.

“Don’t.”

His brows rose. “I didn’t say anything.”

“Keep it that way.”

Mason looked between us, confused. “What?”

“Nothing,” Lucas answered, looking far too amused for someone who valued his life.,

I threw the nearest cushion at his head.

I was seven minutes early, which annoyed me more than it should have.

Propped against the headboard with my laptop across my thighs, I watched the countdown on Luna’s scheduled stream lose another second.
