"Elena, do you want to get down?"
Sterling lowered his eyes. His body was completely tense as he fixed a dark, predatory gaze on the girl responsible for his current predicament.
Though there was a faint trace of gentleness in his voice, Elena felt a sudden, chilling sense of dread.
"No, I'm not getting down!"
Without a second of hesitation, Elena refused brightly, wrapping her arms even tighter around him.
Others might not have noticed, but she saw it clearly. He was looking at her like he wanted to devour her alive, his eyes brimming with unmistakable danger.
The grip on her legs tightened, his hot fingers digging into her skin.
Elena wasn't stupid. She knew perfectly well that a young man in his prime couldn't just turn off his physical arousal on command.
Carrying her was the only way he could hide his condition. If he put her down now, the embarrassment would be catastrophic.
"I like it when my babe carries me. I order you to carry me all the way into the classroom, or I'm going to ignore you."
Her sweet, flirtatious demand made the professor blush furiously and left the other three boys in stunned silence.
After all, they knew the truth. She was just a hired girlfriend, a pawn paid to make the school belle jealous.
But at this moment, they couldn't help but wonder if acting really required going to such lengths.
They were out in the hallway, not inside the classroom, and Lydia wasn't even here to witness it.
Besides... Sterling always kept his distance from women. Wasn't this pose a little too intimate?
"Alright, alright, stop wasting time. Just carry her inside!"
The old professor urged them along, secretly marveling at the audacity of today's youth.
"Oh my God! Sterling is carrying his girlfriend into class. They are so sweet together!"
Catching sight of Sterling approaching with Elena in his arms, Lorelei rushed back to her seat, broadcasting the news at the top of her lungs.
"Before, whenever gorgeous girls confessed to him, he wouldn't even accept a love letter just to make sure you didn't get upset!"
Lydia frowned slightly, seemingly caught in her own thoughts.
"Also, when I mentioned you might be ready to accept him, his immediate reaction was genuine... Lydia, the more I think about it, the more suspicious it feels. Could that woman be an actress?"
Suddenly, Sasha's eyes lit up as she reached this conclusion.
Lydia bit her lower lip, a hint of confusion in her voice. "An actress?"
"Yeah, don't you think everything today has been way too deliberate? She obviously knows you're the one he likes. She's been intentionally provoking you, targeting you, bullying you... it's almost like she's trying to force you to admit your feelings for him!"
The more Sasha spoke, the more convinced she became, a flicker of hope igniting in her chest.
After a moment of silence, Lydia's eyelashes fluttered, and she murmured, "But they... kissed."
"From that angle, it just looked like a kiss. Nobody actually saw their lips touch. It could have been a fake out!"
