"I need to rest."
Nora raised her head, her pale face covered in a sheen of cold sweat. "I was diagnosed with low blood sugar at the hospital a few days ago, and I'm incredibly dizzy right now. I'm requesting a medical examination."
The interrogators looked at her weakened state but didn't immediately agree.
"Half an hour ago, the precinct doctor checked your basic vitals. Your blood pressure and heart rate are both within normal ranges."
The officer looked at the notepad in his hand.
"Nora, faking an illness to escape interrogation is futile. We have strict regulations here. As long as your physical indicators don't show life-threatening signs, the interrogation will continue."
"Confess the details of how you pushed her, and you can immediately go back to the holding cell to rest."
"Sign the confession form quickly, detail the specifics of pushing her, and seek leniency in court. That is your only way out now."
"I didn't push her!"
Nora raised her head, her bloodshot eyes meeting the two officers' gazes head-on.
"I will not admit a single word to something I haven't done."
She couldn't confess.
It wasn't something she did. If she signed those papers under their high pressure today, then for the rest of her life, she—and the child in her womb—would truly be burdened with the shameful stigma of being a murderer.
An unknown amount of time passed before the heavy iron door of the interrogation room was finally pushed open from the outside.
A uniformed officer walked in and whispered a few words into the ear of the interrogating officer.
The officer closed the folder in front of him and stood up.
"Nora, someone requested a special visitation. You can go to the meeting room."
