The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 365

Inside the interrogation room sat two expressionless police officers.

The enclosed, claustrophobic space had no windows, making it entirely impossible to tell whether it was day or night outside.

"Name."

"Nora."

"Age."

"Twenty-six."

"Nora, let's review the timeline again."

The officer on the left opened the file folder in front of him, tapping his finger against a stack of printed photographs.

"Last night at 8:45 PM, you sent a text message to the victim, Giselle, from your personal phone."

"The text explicitly ordered her to go to the roof of The Southview Peninsula Hotel, and it contained highly threatening language."

"At 8:50 PM, the security cameras outside the banquet hall captured you leaving the venue. At exactly 9:00 PM, the victim plummeted from the roof. Do you have anything to add?"

Nora's hands were cuffed to the bar beneath the metal interrogation table. Staring at the stern faces of the officers across from her, she repeated her answer for the hundredth time.

"I admit that I sent the text. But I only asked her up there to confront her about The Anonymous Email."

"When I reached the roof, the very second I pushed open the fire door, someone dressed in dark clothes and a baseball cap shoved past me."

"That person ran straight down the stairwell. By the time I walked over to the edge to look down, it had already happened."

The officer on the right tapped his pen against the desk twice.
