Gideon stared at Nora, his eyes brimming with disappointment and a bone-chilling frost.
He had left work early today specifically to come here, wanting to take her to dinner and have a proper conversation.
He thought Nora was just naturally aloof, that she was simply still upset over the incident at the manor. He believed she at least had a good heart and understood basic boundaries.
Before this, he had genuinely wanted to make things work with her. He knew she had suffered grievances at the manor, and he had been willing to set aside his pride to slowly make it up to her in their future together.
But now, he realized he had misjudged her entirely.
Nora knew perfectly well that Giselle's background was the ultimate line not to be crossed, yet she chose the most vicious way to attack her, tearing her scars open for an audience.
And now, after her assistant had struck Giselle, Nora showed zero remorse. Instead, she stood there with a sense of righteous defiance, directly challenging him.
So she was actually this malicious to her very core.
Any trace of guilt or affection Gideon had recently developed for her evaporated in an instant.
He tore his gaze away, refusing to look at her red-rimmed eyes for another second.
Gideon subtly raised his right hand, giving a brief, sharp signal in the air.
Liam York, who had been on standby outside the door, immediately led two heavily built bodyguards into the studio.
Liam had worked by Gideon's side for years; it only took one gesture for him to understand exactly what his boss wanted.
He glanced at Janie, who was hiding behind Nora, and waved his hand expressionlessly.
The two bodyguards surged forward. They roughly shoved Nora aside and forcefully dragged Janie out from behind her.
"What are you doing! Let me go!"
Janie struggled in sheer panic, but her strength was nothing against professionally trained enforcers.
Nora stumbled, nearly falling to the floor. Regaining her balance, she immediately lunged forward to pull Janie back.
"Gideon! Come at me! Let Janie go!" Nora screamed.
Gideon stood perfectly still, one arm still securely wrapped around Giselle.
