One Month to Win Me Back I
NARRATOR
The gardener ran off with his ladder and all his tools.
He fled like everyone else.
Cassian collapsed on the lawn, breathing hard, badly injured all over again and bleeding everywhere, but the truth was. he felt much better.
He stared up at the dawning sky while Vhaelor dropped onto the grass beside him.
“If I really had died alongside my mate… your mate would be dead right now too.” Vhaelor’s deep voice rumbled beside him.
“They threw her into the pit with every bone in her body broken, and her womb… I still don’t know if she’ll ever be able to bear children…”
Cassian closed his eyes, imagining it and nearly choking on his remorse.
“I’ll admit I never imagined your mother’s greed would go that far… She had to die.”
“Where’s her body?”
That was the only response the King got.
“Her body is being preserved in one of the chainbers so you can decide what to do with her… Cassian.”
Vhaelor watched him get up, staggering and leaving a trail of blood.
Cassian didn’t say anything else or throw another fit.
Cassian headed toward the storerooms, while Vhaelor walked toward one of the watchtowers.
A while later, a cart rolled out, with Cassian at the reins and a covered bundle in the back.
He left alone. The shovel made it obvious that he intended to bury his mother somewhere far beyond the palace grounds.
Vhaelor would let him grieve alone.
Whatever Cassian decided afterward, whether he stayed or left, fought for his mate or gave up, was up to fate now.
When Vhaelor went back to find Isidora, she was waiting for him in the hallway.
“How is she?”
“She asked all of us to leave…” she told him, her face full of concern
Her King stepped closer and kissed her temple.
“You look exhausted. You need to rest…”
“I can’t leave her alone. She’s trying to process everything, and she doesn’t want any more sedatives… Do you think I should call Legna
“No. Elessta is much stronger than you think. Let her make this decision on her own.” Vhaelor drew her in by the waist and held her against his chest.

They’d barely made it back from their nighttime adventure and gotten into bed when all of this happened.
Ad Cassian?” His woman’s voice came muffled against his chest as her arms tightened around his waist.
“He went to bury his mother. Alone, with a cart and a shovel…”
“Wouldn’t it be better if you followed him? What if he does something reckless…” Isidora was starting to feel a little sorry for Cassian.
The Alpha had only been the victim of a manipulative mother and terrible circumstances.
“He won’t do anything reckless as long as he still has hope.” Vhaelor looked into her eyes and slowly brushed her hair back from the face he loved so much.
“But if Elessia leaves him… I don’t know if he’ll get over it…”
And he meant it. Cassian’s rage and violence were proof of that.
He had helped his friend get all that anger out, but only love could truly heal him.
“I think she’ll reject him…”
“I won’t… at least not tomorrow.”
They both turned toward the doorway.
“Ele…”
“You didn’t run away, and neither will I.” Elessia looked at her, her eyes burning with determination.
She was tired of feeling sorry for herself.
Despite being an Omega, she had never been a weak woman.
“I’ll give him one month to show me what kind of man he is. Then I’ll decide whether I can leave all of this behind… or whether I’ll move on without him…”
Isidora looked at her with pride and squeezed Vhaelor’s hand, her way of saying… we’ll support them.
She had gotten off to a bad start with Cassian, but now she genuinely wanted Elessia to find happiness with her male.
“I’ve known Cassian all my life. He’s one of the few men I’d trust with my life. You won’t find a better male than him, or one who’ll love you more.”
Vhaelor added in his friend’s defense.
“That’s for me to decide, Your Majesty.”
Elessia spoke respectfully but firmly.

He returned looking like a complete wreck, convinced this would be the day his soul finally broke.
wolf wanted no part of being rejected, but they couldn’t force Elessia to accept them.
Yet there she was in front of him, like a beautiful mirage.
Cassian looked at her, his blue eyes filled with pain and bitterness.
“I see you couldn’t even wait any longer. I suppose every second you’re bound to me must disgust you…” He sighed and raked a hand anxiously through his hair.
Elessia looked at his ragged clothes, the wounds that were still oozing, and his defeated aura. `
orry I attacked you like a lunatic… The Omega finally spoke.
