Chapter 256
Grayson
On that Monday morning. Tiffany had insisted that I accompany her to an important meeting as it was good for our image I didn’t mind going with her because anything that was good for us, was good for the business.
I had noticed how excited she had been ever since we had left home together. That was the first time in a while it was happening. We were in the backseat of the limousine and she hummed every few minutes.
I didn’t bother asking questions at first because I thought it wouldn’t make any difference to me.
That was until we got to our destination. The limousine came to a stop at a familiar building and when saw the company name, I looked over at her with a chuckle.
“You brought me along to see Brenda Jones?” I said.
She laughed triumphantly while lightly moving her shoulders. “I didn’t bring you here just to see her. You’re about to see the beginning of my rise. Remember when I told you to keep those fucking shares? I meant it.”
I watched her for a few seconds as she started scrolling on her phone.
But I was so curious that I said, “What did you d-”
“Shut up for a second,” she said to me after placing the phone against her ear. Then, she smiled sweetly as she started talking on the phone. “Hey, babe. I’m just about to meet her now.”
I scoffed at how she had just dismissed me. That didn’t bother me at all because it was now a normal thing for her to talk to Josh in my presence whenever she felt like it. At times, they even met up at some of her apartments.
By the end of their conversation, I could tell that they were going to have a huge celebration because of what was about to happen with Brenda Jones.
When the two of us stepped out of the limousine, I led the way while she followed behind me. But her heels clicked faster, one after the other as she tried to catch up. She slipped her hand right into mine when she was right beside me. I didn’t want to squeeze it even the tiniest bit. But as always, we had to keep up appearances. It was only because it was also good for my image as her husband that I ended up holding it.
We walked into the lobby and I stopped in my tracks for a moment because our lawyer was there. It turned out that he had come earlier as he had been waiting for us.
Tiffany didn’t even let me ask any questions because according to her, she had everything under control.
I was curious to see where this was going, so I just went along with it.
One of the staff members there guided us to the boardroom and the two of us sat down.
Our lawyer had to step out for a second just to pick up an important phone call that could wait.
Tiffany’s constant giggles were so annoying that I just couldn’t take it anymore.
“You know,” I finally said. “if you’re just going to make that fucking sound without telling me what’s actually going on, you might as well shut up.”
“Ugh! You can be so nosy sometimes. Fine, I’ll tell you.” She leaned forward and rested her elbows on the table in front of her. “Three weeks ago, you saw me talking to Brenda, but that wasn’t the first time the two of us had spoken.”
“When did you-”

“I’m not done, so shut up. As I was saying, I only needed one massive opportunity and I found it with her. I’ve spent weeks negotiating with her so I can buy one of her most profitable companies. The moment I heard about it, I knew that I had to give it a shot and make sure I came out on top. This is the one investment I needed because I now have the chance to prove just how powerful I still am even without all those shares.”
I scoffed. “You mean just how powerful the last name Aldridge is and it’s not even yours?”
She shot me a glare, like she was ready for a strong comeback, but she sighed in defeat and I knew at that moment that there was nothing she could say to that.
“You know what? Fuck you,” she suddenly said. “I’m about to make you regret everything you’ve put me through because today, I’m here to finalize the deal for the company.”
I was actually impressed that she had managed to keep that a secret from me. I knew what that company could do for anyone who would decide to acquire it. But still, it was going to take her a long time to get to where I was.
“So, this is supposed to be your comeback?” I said mockingly while pointing at her with my hand.
She chuckled. “Say whatever you want. It won’t change the fact that I’m about to turn things around.”
She was still bragging about that when the door creaked open and our lawyer came back in and took his seat next to me.
Just a few seconds later, Brenda came in with a man in a grey suit. He also had a file with him in one hand.
Tiffany was so annoying as she greeted them first and they just politely responded as they took their seats on the other side of the table.
It soon became clear that the man Brenda had come in with was her lawyer. This information only excited Tiffany even more. She now constantly stared at the file like she was looking for the spot where she needed to sign or something.
Suddenly, Brenda and her lawyer started whispering to each other with serious expressions and it made me tilt my head as I wondered what was going on.
“So, when do we start?” Tiffany said with enthusiasm. “I have so much to do today, but nothing is more important than this.” With a soft sigh, Brenda said, “I’m sorry Mrs Ford, but the company has already been acquired by someone else.”
