Compared to the others, Opal had found a completely wild sort of trial.
Her trial was not focused on her personal growth, she was training her knowledge. Like Dana, she had picked the third trial, but her decision was largely driven by the fact that Tessa had picked the third trial, and Opal was sitting on her shoulder.
So, she just went with the flow.
Opal’s trial was entirely focused on Dreamcloth creation and fashion.
It was amazing.
She had the skill, and she had the materials provided by the trial, plus thousands of books, designs, and patterns right at her fingertips.
The System only had one direction.
{Create One New Design using Dreamcloth}
It had seemed like the simplest trial in the world when she first started. She had thought of a really cool dress for herself, using these top grade materials. But when she finished the sketch, a design flew down from the upper shelves, and opened in front of her to show exactly the dress that she wanted to make.
So, it wasn’t just "Make something new to you" it was "Make something new to the trial" and that was an entirely different standard.
There was limited time, so she would never be able to read all the design plans that were available in this space. She had to find a way to come up with something new without knowing everything about everything.
And that meant theory.
If she went through the basic design theory books for every section of this fashion library, she would be able to guess at what was here and what was not.
If a design was too far from what the others had put in their fundamental books, it was unlikely to be in the design logs for the trial. And that would be her chance to make something wonderful, while learning all about how the others who came before her thought of fashion.
Most of the books appeared to be made by Elves, as the designs were made for that sort of lithe body.
But a few of them were clearly made for multiple armed demons, and even Seraphim.
Trying not to get too caught up in the basics, while learning as much as possible about the fashions of other Dreamcloth Tailors, was a fine balancing act that Opal was pretty sure that she had mastered.
She would gain the knowledge that her illusions gained. What they learned, she knew. What they saw, she saw.
So, she had sent a thousand copies of herself through the room to gather as much knowledge as possible, and it was still not enough to make it through the designs in anything resembling a reasonable time frame.
If she didn’t know better, she would think that this place held every design ever made with the skill.
