“My abilities don’t even compare. I’m just a tiny spark next to her,” June muttered.

She used to think she was some kind of prodigy. After seeing what Hayley could do, she was never saying that again.

Behind her, Zach and William both thought back to the way they had bragged to Hayley the night before. They were talking big, saying they would protect her. That as long as they were around, everything would be fine.

Just thinking about it now made their skin crawl with embarrassment.

How could they have said something like that in front of a powerhouse like her?

And the worst part was, Hayley hadn’t laughed at them. She hadn’t shown off or said a single thing.

They had no idea she was operating on a completely different level.

The group was just about to break free from the endless sea of zombies when the ground beneath their feet started shaking

again.

Heavy impacts echoed from the distance.

Zach and the others looked up just in time to see a massive figure, like a moving hill, charging out from behind the station.

“It’s here again!”

It was the super-evolved zombie that had chased them through the fog yesterday.

Hayley, still pushing her abilities at full force, lifted her head and saw it clearly.

The creature was at least five times the size of a normal person, easily around ten feet tall.

Its body bulged with grotesque, tumor-like muscles. Its massive trapezius swelled up so much that it barely even had a neck, making it look like a hulking monster fused into one solid mass.

Its mouth stretched unnaturally wide, big enough to bite off a human head in a single snap. Its eyes, squeezed by that oversized jaw, looked small by comparison.

But they had that same zombie gray-white color, cloudy and pupilless. Wherever those dead eyes landed, it sent a chill straight through your bones.

The most terrifying thing wasn’t its appearance, its size, or the crushing sense of pressure it gave off.

It was the fact that it was carrying a massive advertising sign in its hand.

At that exact moment, with a screech of tires, a modified off road vehicle burst out from the station.

The instant Hayley saw the vehicle, her eyes lit up. “Run to it!”

Zach and the others reacted immediately. June opened her mouth to say something, but Zach grabbed her and pulled her forward into a sprint.

At a moment like this, you follow orders. Anything else would only get you killed.

They had barely run ten feet when the giant zombie came up behind them, raising the sign high overhead.

Bang!

The sign slammed down onto the ground.

More than ten zombies were instantly flattened into pulp, brains, intestines, and organs splattering everywhere. Arms and legs flew off like broken pieces of a toy. 1
