Chapter 777
“Don’t move.” Spencer, who had been silent and ice-coid the whole time, finally spoke.
The moment his words landed, the car surged to its top speed, pushing close to 110 miles per hour.
Hayley, sitting in the back seat, felt the brutal force slam her into the seat behind her. It was like her whole body had been glued in place.
At that speed, no one dared to move.
If anyone suddenly stood up or even shifted too hard, it could throw off the balance of the car and send them straight into a
crash.
But it was clear that with the car tearing forward like this, they were finally putting distance between themselves and the giant zombie chasing them.
The creature’s guttural roars faded, swallowed back into the thick fog behind them.
Just as everyone started to breathe again, the clear stretch of track ahead was broken by a lone zombie.
Bang!
The zombie leapt forward and was instantly sent flying by the impact.
A second later, Hayley and the others saw a massive horde of zombies charging straight toward them along the tracks.
“Raarh!”
“Raarh!”
“Raarh!”
Dozens of them, mouths wide open, sprinted right into the headlights.
Up ahead, the illuminated sign for Fairfield South Rail Station came into view.
In just a few minutes of that life-or-death sprint, they had gone all the way from the north station to the south station.
And now, the platform ahead was swarming.
Zombies poured out, rushing straight at them.
All of them.
The only good news was that the green fog outside was finally starting to thin.
Above them, the night sky slowly revealed itself, stars breaking through.
Bang, bang, bang!
Bang, bang!
Spencer drove straight through the horde, crushing zombies under the wheels, trying to slow the car down.
But the speed was still too high to drop all at once. Each zombie that slammed into them hit hard, every impact punishing t
modified vehicle.
Ahead, the tracks began to narrow. Multiple lines merged into one, all leading straight into the station platters, where several
trains sat idle.
They couldn’t stay on the tracks anymore.

They were about to lose control.
Spencer locked his eyes on the gravel beyond.

After plowing through more than a dozen zombies, he suddenly jerked the wheel and hit the rising edge of the ground, sending the car surging up onto the platform in one smooth, violent motion.
Bang, bang, bang!
Bang, bang!
Bang!
The car barreled forward, crushing everything in its path across the platform.
Screeeech!
The sheer momentum carried them forward until all four tires dragged hard across the ground, leaving long streaks behind before the car finally came to a dangerous stop at the very edge of the platform.
Inside the car, everyone except Hayley and Griffin was drenched in sweat.
Zach stared at the stopped vehicle, still shaken.
“Raarh!”
Bang!
A zombie lunged at them, slamming against the door, its blood-soaked face pressed right up against the glass.
Its head had been knocked sideways earlier from the impact. Its neck was twisted unnaturally, hanging backward along its spine.
Now it leaned against the door with its back, its head hanging upside down, its arms bent the wrong way as it pounded violently against the window.
Everyone inside felt a chill crawl up the back of their necks.
But then, they realized something.
This was the last one.
Zach activated his metal-element gift and yanked the door open. At the same time, a blade shot forward and pierced straight through the zombie’s skull.
Everyone stepped out of the car and looked back the way they had come.
The platform was a wreck. Every zombie had been crushed.
And their luck had held.
There had only been this many zombies in the South Rail Station.
