Chapter 742
There was a lockpicker outside, too!
A crowd suddenly rushed in.
“Shut the door!”
Men and women poured through the entrance in a frenzy. Right behind them, zombies came charging, their growls closing in fast.
One of them was speed-enhanced. Its pale gray eyes bulged and its mouth stretched wide open, its whole face twisting into something grotesque as it lunged forward.
“Raarh!”
It threw itself at the last two people still trying to make it inside.
“Close it!”
A man who had already made it in glanced back coldly at the two lagging behind, the ones who had drawn the zombie with them. He grabbed the solid wood door and started to slam it shut.
At that exact moment, a woman in the middle suddenly shoved the person beside her and lunged forward, slipping through the doorway.
Bang!
The door slammed shut.
The last person, along with the zombie, was left outside.
“Aaaah!”
A scream tore through the air, sharp and desperate, followed by a barrage of heavy impacts against the door.
The zombies swarmed him instantly, piling on without leaving a single gap.
He disappeared under them.
They tore into him, his face, muscles, stomach, insides, legs, fingers, and scalp.
Crunch
Rip.
Wet, animal sounds of chewing and tearing filled the air beyond the door
Everyone inside stood frozen, hearts pounding after what they had just seen
Including Hayley’s group

They had even forgotten about the food in their hands.
But soon, their attention shifted to the people who had just forced their way in.
“It’s Preston,” Tyler said, recognizing the man with blood smeared across his face and a thick, hardened
build.
They had seen him back on the helicopter. He was the one who made people hand over their ammo before letting them join. He had even tried to mess with Hayley.
The moment they realized who it was, everyone tensed.
Preston, on the other hand, lit up the second he saw Hayley. His small greenish eyes gleamed.
“Boss, Jocelyn’s with them, too!” Tyler added, spotting another familiar face.
They used to share a dorm, but she had never sided with Hayley.
Hayley followed his gaze and found her standing behind Preston.
Jocelyn looked terrible. Her hair was a mess, her face pale, her hands and clothes smeared with dirt and blood. She had even lost one shoe, standing there in a torn sock with her toes sticking out.
Gone was the girl who used to be protected by her brother, the one everyone used to fawn over.
It was obvious she had barely made it through.
She stood behind Preston, staring at Tyler and the others.
They looked…fine. Exactly the same as when they had last split up.
There wasn’t a scratch on them. No blood, no signs of struggle.
And most of all, each of them was holding a full bowl of steaming noodles.
There were meatballs, eggs, and vegetables, all mixed in.
The rich smell drifted through the air, thick and impossible to ignore.
Jocelyn just stared.
How were they living like this?
How did they find food like that?
Weren’t they supposed to be struggling just like her, fighting to survive in a sea of zombies?
