Chapter 734
After Preston’s group finished recruiting, several pairs of eyes shifted toward Hayley.
Preston leaned in and whispered something to one of his men. The guy’s eyes lit up as he looked at
Hayley.
“Hey, you. The boss likes you. Come over and give him a kiss, and he’ll take you in. No need to hand over your bullet.”
Hayley let out a quiet, amused laugh.
Tyler and Barnaby, who were sitting beside her, both stood up. “No, thanks. She’s our leader. We’re not going anywhere.”
After hearing that, Preston and his men looked Hayley over again and again. The broad, heavily built Preston studied them with a mix of scrutiny and contempt, a greasy smirk tugging at his lips. Then he waved his man back.
The guy sneered at them before returning, “Keep up the act. When the time comes, we’ll see how you beg us to take you in.”
Their side sat back down and stopped talking.
The tension in the cabin thickened as everyone waited for what came next.
There were no windows in the helicopter. No one knew where they were heading.
About an hour later, the announcement came through the cabin.
“All participants, equip your parachutes and enter the testing zone.”
As the voice faded, the rear hatch of the helicopter opened. A violent rush of wind blasted into the cabin, nearly knocking people off balance near the back.
That was when Hayley finally saw the so-called testing ground.
It was a massive city overrun with zombies.
In the distance, the landmark tower of Somervale, Henerland’s top-tier metropolis, rose into view. Below them, countless zombies surged toward the sound, packed so tightly that they formed a writhing sea of bodies.
“Raarh!”
Their shrieks tore through the air
“Zombies!”
“Why a big city?!”

“This round’s challenge is survival. All participants must stay alive in Somervale for three days. Those who make it to the end will be declared winners. You have three minutes to exit the aircraft. Failure to do
so will result in elimination.”
The cold announcement echoed again, followed by a countdown.
“Two minutes, fifty-nine seconds.”
Panic spread instantly through the cabin.
Elimination?
No way…
In the chaos, someone finally stood up.
He was the first to jump.
His parachute deployed midair, and he drifted toward a rooftop. He looked trained, landing clean and steady.
Seeing that, others followed.
Soon, parachutes bloomed across the sky.
However, only a few could control their descent. Most struggled to land accurately. One mistake, and they dropped straight into the swarming zombies below.
Screams erupted from the streets.
Parachutes spread out like sheets over clusters of undead, while the people beneath them vanished almost instantly into the horde.
At the sight of death, hesitation crept back into the cabin.
“Let’s go.”
Hayley’s voice cut through it.
She always moved with control. She had waited, watched, and learned from the others before making her move.
“Stay with me,” she said, strapping on her parachute. She grabbed onto the railing at the rear of the aircraft, her gaze locking onto the wide stretch of the Clearbrook River below. “You all know how to swim, right?”
The group gathered behind her, answering in unison. “Yeah!”
“Then hold on to me. We’re jumping into the river.”
