The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 514

Chapter 514

Right now, two people in front of Hayley had been clawed by zombies.

Trevor lay sprawled on the floor. He ripped open his sleeve and stared at the long scratch on his arm, then tore off his mask in a rage.

It revealed a vicious, domineering face in his thirties or forties, thick with flesh and hardened by cruelty.

His lips were already turning pale Fat beads of sweat rolled down his forehead and dripped onto the floor.

The moment the zombie’s claws broke his skin, the virus had flooded his body.

His heart hammered wildly. His bones itched deep inside. He didn’t have much time left.

Ugh!

Mr. Clayton!

Mr. Clayton!

Mr. Clayton

As his people crowded around him, Trevor pulled out the zombie virus inhibitor he had paid an insane price for.

He didn’t hesitate.

He stabbed it straight into himself.

After all that money, who else would he save if not himself?

Under everyone’s gaze, he injected the entire dose. The moment the inhibitor entered his body, he curled up in

agony.

Hayley watched the whole thing with open amusement.

Honestly, this was kinda fun.

Her gaze then shifted to the other person.

Ruth.

Ruth was on the ground, clutching her neck where she had been bitten, coughing up blood. Fresh blood poured through her fingers, soaking her hands in seconds.

When she noticed Hayley looking at her, she struggled forward, eyes full of desperation.

Can youhelp me?

I can’t save you,Hayley said calmly as she walked to Ruth with the dogs.

NoRuth gasped.

A wallet appeared in her hand out of thin air.

She was an inventoryvariant Gifted.

She gripped the wallet tightly. After I dieI’ll leave behind a lot of things. You can have them all. Justgive this to my sister, LeenaUgh! She livesin the outer zone.

Her breathing grew rougher, each inhale dragging in huge gulps of air. The wound in her neck pulsed as she spoke, blood spraying out in thin streams.

Right before Hayley’s eyes, the color drained from Ruth’s face. Dark veins crept up across her skin.

Ugh!

Her body stiffened, and her legs straightened. Both hands clawed at her neck as she convulsed on the floor. Het black pupils slowly faded into graywhite.

I’m begging youPlease. I’ll give you everything. Just give this to her.”

Hayley took the wallet. Alright.

At those words, something in Ruth seemed to finally settle. The last trace of clarity flickered back into her eyes.

Thank you,she whispered. PleaseTell her one thing for me. Tell herI can’t protect her anymore. Tell her

she has to take care of herself.

She pulled a gun from her inventory and looked at Hayley with a thin, bloodless smile.

UghughI’d rather die than become a zombie.

Bang!

Ruth pulled the trigger without hesitation. The bullet tore through her temple just before she lost herself.

The light vanished from her gray eyes.

She died as a human.

As her body fell still, piles of supplies spilled out around her.

Hayley looked at the woman lying amid the scattered goods, her mood sinking slightly.

Up to now, she had met five managers from these Ark bases. Ruth was the only woman among them.

Back in Ark One, the Level Two managers, Lionel and Mason, were trash through and through, the kind who would trade other people’s lives for their own survival without blinking.
