Chapter 512

People from the other Ark bases were shouting at Hayley now.

Ark One, what are you doing with all those dogs if you’re not using them to clear the way?

Yes, exactly! Do you expect our people to die instead of your dogs?

They’re animals! That’s what they’re for!

The moment Hayley heard that, her temper snapped. She stopped dead, dogs in hand..

The others yelled, Hey! What do you think you’re doing?

Send the dogs up front. Now!

We’re not in a rush,Hayley said calmly, loosening her grip and taking the dogs for a slow stroll. If you’re in a hurry, feel free to keep running.

A zombie lunged in.

The barking squad swatted it down in a single move. Sixteen dogs tightened into a perfect circle around Hayley. Not one zombie got within arm’s reach.

The people ahead were halfrunning, halfcrawling in panic. When they saw this, they were furious and desperate all at once.

Ark One, what the hell?

She’s not part of our base,Nathaniel finally spoke up. She’s my guest.

You all had better hurry,Hayley added lazily. It’d be a shame if Ms. Sarratt didn’t make it, and no one could lead you anymore.

That finally did it.

The group up front had no choice but to cooperate.

Ark Three’s guards surged forward to clear a path.

Nathaniel signaled, and his own guards joined in.

Protected by what was left of their escorts, the group pushed ahead inch by inch.

Every step was a fight for their lives.

Behind them, Hayley walked as if she were out for fresh air, dogs at her side.

The contrast was infuriating.

Their guards dropped one by one, exhausted and injured. Meanwhile, Hayley’s dogs were still sharp, fast, and relentless.

The others fought their way through like it was hell itself, while Hayley strolled through like a Sunday walk.

It drove them insane.

Finally, after nearly burning through all their guards, they reached the manager’s office.

Ruth’s last remaining escort threw himself forward to clear the final stretch.

Ruth rushed to the door and swiped her card.

The once untouchable elites crowded tightly behind her, tense and silent, ready to rush inside the second the door opened.

Behind them, the zombie tide closed in from both ends of the corridor.

Raarh!

Raarh!

The howls echoed through the underground complex, shaking the walls.

There were no living people left down here now. Every zombie in the facility was converging on the sound.

Looking down the hall, it was a sea of bodies. Waves of zombies surged from both sides. Nearly all of them wore white lab coats. The rest wore identical hospital gowns.

They were all white, and all soaked in red.

Some had their chests ripped open, organs spilling out. Some dragged missing limbs, bodies barely holding together.

Others ran with joints bent the wrong way, moving in ways no human body ever should.

Ruth’s hands shook as she swiped the card and started entering the password. This door required a sixdigit code.

Her mind went blank by the second number. Her fingers trembled as they tapped against the cold metal keypad.

Sweat soaked her palms.

Ding! [Password incorrect.]

The first attempt failed.

The man in the white mask exploded. Are you trying to get us all killed?!
