A book flew straight at Griffin’s head.

The nonstop-talking Griffin caught it instantly and grinned at Hayley.

Hayley shot him a look, then glanced around at her guards, everyone present except Ruby. She cleared her th suddenly all business.

“Today’s Hearthfall. You’ve all worked hard. I’ve got some gifts for everyone, and tonight, you’re all off. Do whatever you want.”

Hayley stood up and began handing out gifts one by one.

Hayley handed Sienna five sets of children’s clothes and five large snack bundles.

Sienna blinked her clear, lucid eyes. “Thank you, Dr. Corbyn.”

Hayley paused.

Sienna still insisted on calling her Dr. Corbyn, whoever that was, but she had hardly had an episode since.

When she was stable, she was no different from a normal person, and in many ways, she was even more capable

than most.

She now oversaw childcare for all children under five in the city, making sure adults could report to work at full capacity without losing labor to babysitting.

She was meticulous with the kids, and every child around her behaved unusually well.

It was as if she could understand what each child needed, even babies who couldn’t talk yet.

She was deeply loved by the residents.

Sienna took her gifts and headed home to the children.

Jim took the serums, his eyes lighting up. “Thank you, Boss!”

“Keep it up,” Hayley said.

Jim nodded hard, eyes blazing.

Next was Thomas.

“Tommy, happy Hearthfall.”

Hayley handed him a pair of gold reinforced gloves.

“Wear these when you hit people. Won’t hurt your hands.”

Thomas broke into a grin immediately.

“Thank you!”

Hayley felt his loyalty tick up slightly as well. He was already on the Unbreakable Oath tier, so further growth showed more in emotional weight than numbers.

Next came Leonard.

“Leonard, here.”

Hayley pulled a concealed blade from the cabinet behind her.

“I told you a long time ago I’d get you a good knife. I finally found one.”

She had once had her eye on Scott’s blade, but after handing that back to Scott, she had to settle for tracking do a top-tier knife from city stock instead.

Leonard froze when he saw the blade.

A long time ago, Hayley had promised she would find him a knife.

She had never forgotten.

Warmth flooded his chest, like sunlight breaking through.
