The Cold Surgeon's Contract Bride novel Chapter 53

It was too late to back out of the room.

Seeing Ferris, Lucille looked absolutely stunned. Excitement colored her voice as she blurted out, "Oh, Leon, the attending you found for us is my son-in... Dr. Sterling!"

It was obvious she was thrilled.

After all, she had just been talking about wanting to see Ferris's work environment.

Ferris had been looking at his computer screen, but at the sound of Lucille's voice, he turned around. His gaze swept over the three of us briefly before settling squarely on Leon. "Are these the friends and family you mentioned?"

His voice was perfectly level, devoid of any discernible emotion, but the slight furrow of his brow gave away his true feelings.

It seemed Leon hadn't mentioned my or Lucille's names to him.

Knowing Ferris's strict temperament, Leon must have intentionally used a vague approach to secure the favor.

However, Leon immediately picked up on the strange dynamic. He watched Lucille and Ferris for a few seconds before turning to his best friend, utterly bewildered. "You know Mrs. Lowell, Ferris?"

He hit the nail right on the head.

But Ferris didn't answer directly. He maintained that cool, detached demeanor—which, in a way, was an answer in itself. A declaration of total estrangement.

Lucille suddenly looked as nervous as a child caught misbehaving. She waved her hands frantically. "Oh, no, no, we're not close! I just saw him on Capital General's promotional posters. I never expected him to be even more handsome in person."

Classic Lucille. Out of all his prestigious qualities, she managed to compliment his most superficial trait.
