At the mention of Beatrice, Terrence, who already had one foot out the door, stopped dead in his tracks and turned back.
An eerie, breathless silence instantly swallowed the conference room.
Ferris exchanged a quick glance with The Medical Board representatives seated nearby. A second later, the large projector screen flickered to life, displaying a grainy video feed.
It was footage of Beatrice sneaking out of her hospital room.
The timestamp read 2:00 AM.

"As you can all see, the patient repeatedly left her room without medical authorization, timing her exits perfectly with the nurses' shift changes," Ferris explained calmly, his eyes fixed on the screen. "The hallway cameras caught this exact behavior five separate times."
He clicked the remote. The screen instantly divided, showing five different clips of Beatrice slipping out of the VIP Suite.
Terrence stared at the screen, utterly devastated. His eyes welled with tears as he stammered, "I... I was with her every single day. I had no idea... Wait, why was she leaving the room? What was she doing?"
Ferris looked at Terrence with a somber expression before clicking the remote again. The footage switched to a recorded interview with a young nurse.
I immediately recognized her from Beatrice's ward.
"I caught Mrs. Thorne throwing her medication into the trash purely by accident. The first time, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. She had just gotten out of surgery, so her mobility was pretty limited. But the second time, I paid closer attention." The young nurse stood before the camera, trembling with fear. "When I dug the pills out of the trash, I was going to report it to Director Sterling immediately. But Mrs. Thorne begged me not to. She literally begged me..."
As she spoke, the video flashed images of the crucial anti-tumor medications Beatrice was prescribed. These were rare, astronomically expensive imported drugs meant to stop cancer cells from mutating and spreading. If she had deliberately stopped taking them, it meant...
