I looked at Ferris in confusion and asked, "What do you mean, Ferris?"

"Were you planning to play the victim so you could comfortably ask for a divorce?"

The more I heard, the more absurd it sounded. "I didn't even know my mother was at the estate until I got there."

"You left the hospital before five, but it took you over an hour to reach the estate," Ferris analyzed coldly. "You two had plenty of time to rehearse."

I stared at him in disbelief. "Why would we rehearse anything? The contract is up in a little over a month. If I wanted a divorce, would I need to resort to such schemes?"

A cold sneer escaped him. His gaze fell on my face, venomous and mocking. "Right, you can't even wait a month now?"

I glared at him, thinking the man was completely unreasonable. Just as I was about to argue back, he added, "But let me tell you right now, Selena, you better give up on that idea. The Lennox family will never accept a divorced woman!"

With a loud crash, Ferris raised his arm and viciously hurled his water bottle into the trash can before turning and storming off.

It wasn't until the door slammed shut that I snapped out of our argument. After a moment of thought, I called the head nurse.

"Did something happen at the hospital after I left?"

"So you saw Leon tearing everyone apart on the forums too?" The head nurse sighed helplessly. "That boy usually seems so steady and honest. Why was he so impulsive today?"

So it really did have to do with Leon.

"What exactly happened?"

The head nurse quickly summarized the situation.
