The Cold Surgeon's Contract Bride novel Chapter 118

"How did you know?" Terrence's eyes lit up with surprise before quickly icing over again. "You've got quite the grip too, Dr. Lennox. You train as well?"

"Wing Chun."

"What a coincidence."

After exchanging a few more words, they realized they had actually trained under the same lineage, and a passionate conversation immediately sparked between them.

Beatrice and I looked at each other, both of us wearing exasperated expressions.

"Exactly. You were desperately trying to protect your wife, and I was stepping up for my friend. I guess you could say we're kindred spirits."

Hearing this, Terrence abruptly turned to me, then back to Leon, looking as if a lightbulb had just gone off. "Wait, so you and Dr. Hayes are dating?"

Both Leon and I froze at his words. I immediately waved my hands and corrected him, "No, no, no, Dr. Lennox and I are just friends."

Terrence turned his head suspiciously and looked at Leon. "What do you have to say?"

Leon unconsciously scratched his head, hesitating for two seconds before replying, "We're friends right now, yeah."

Terrence scoffed, immediately striding over to his wife with a wronged expression. "Look at them, honey. They're totally playing coy."

"What did I tell you last time about digging into other people's private lives, hm?"

Seeing Terrence's tattletale act fail, Leon and I burst out laughing. The couple joined in, and the room was filled with genuine warmth until a young nurse interrupted. "Excuse me, it's time for rounds."

I turned around curiously, only to realize that Ferris and another intern, Curtis Chambers, were standing in the doorway.

Before we could even say hello, Ferris marched in with a thunderous scowl. He cast a disdainful look around the lively room and snapped, "Why is everyone bringing their junk into the hospital? This is a ward, not a shopping mall."
