The CEO's Regret: His Lost Wife's Secret Twins novel Chapter 226

Chapter 226

I carried Aurora to a nearby chair, holding her close. “No, baby. You’re the best sister William could ever have.

In the corridor, Richard and Elaine stood huddled together, tears streaming down their faces.

“Our family, Elaine whispered. “What did we do to deserve this?”

Richard’s jaw tightened. “Christine and Emma will pay for what they’ve done.”

I felt something dark and cold unfurl inside me. For years, I’d tried to be understanding, to take the high road. But seeing my children suffer because of Emma’s vindictiveness changed something fundamental within me.

Before I could respond, the elevator doors opened, and Blake stepped out with Jack trailing behind him.

My body tensed immediately. “What are you doing here?”

Blake looked terrible-face pale, clothes rumpled, eyes bloodshot. “I came to see how you and William are doing.

I gave a cold laugh. “Really? Are you here to beg forgiveness for your precious Emma?”

‘Aria-

“Don’t.” I held up my hand. “Just don’t.”

Blake exchanged a look with Jack, who pulled out his phone and showed me a photo.

My stomach lurched. The screen showed Emma sprawled on the floor, dress soaked with blood, multiple stab wounds visible on her torso.

‘What… what did you do?” I gasped.

“What she deserved, Blake answered, voice flat. “An eye for an eye. A knife for a knife.”

I stared at him, unable to process what I was seeing. “You stabbed Emma?”

“Multiple times,” Jack confirmed, swiping to show more horrific images. “Boss made sure she’d live to face justice, though.”

“You did this to Emma?” I repeated, still not believing. “Your Emma?”

Blake’s expression hardened. “She tried to kill our children, Aria. She planned to murder them and you.”

Aurora tugged at my hospital gown. “Mommy, why are you and Daddy talking about bad things?”

Blake knelt to Aurora’s level. “Hey princess. How are you feeling?”

Aurora looked at him suspiciously before burying her face in my side.

Blake straightened, pain flashing across his features. “Aria, please. Can I see William? Just for a minute?”

“He’s resting.”

“I won’t wake him. I just need to see him. His voice cracked. “Please.”

I studied his face-the face I’d once known better than my own. The face that had haunted my dreams for years.

‘Fine. But just look. Don’t disturb him.”

I watched through the window as Blake approached William’s bed. His movements were cautious, almost reverent, as if afraid the slightest

disturbance might shatter our son.

Blake stood there, shoulders shaking, whispering words I couldn’t hear. When he bent to kiss William’s forehead, I had to look away.

Aurora tugged my hand. “Mommy, why is Daddy crying?”

“Because he’s sad that William is sick.”

“Will Daddy help make Will better?”

The question hung in the air between us.

When Blake emerged from the room, his eyes were red. “Thank you,” he said quietly.

“You should know,” I said, keeping my voice low, “William needs a bone marrow transplant.”

Blake nodded. ‘I’m going to get tested right now.”

“What? But your injuries-

‘Don’t matter.” He cut me off. “Nothing matters except saving our son.”

“Blake, you can’t just-

“Aria,” he interrupted, “I’m going to get tested. End of discussion.”

I stepped closer, lowering my voice. “Your body is already weakened. The collection process could cause serious complications.”

‘I don’t care.

“You should! William doesn’t need you sacrificing yourself! He needs a father who’s alive and well!”

Blake’s eyes narrowed. ‘Aria… are you concerned about me?”

The question caught me off guard. “What? No! I just don’t want William to feel responsible if something happens to you.”

‘I’ll be fine.” A ghost of a smile touched his lips. “I didn’t know you still cared.”

“I don’t, I snapped, too quickly. “Go do whatever you want. You always do anyway.”

As Blake walked away with the medical technician, worry tightened in my chest. I watched him go, shoulders tense. The cold, ruthless man was now giving his bone marrow to save our son. Something shifted inside me – not forgiveness, but maybe he wasn’t completely

heartless after all.

The author really should have made the gap in years longer so the children would be just a bit older. They’re so precious, but totally precocious for… More
