Chapter 181

The screen went blank. Jerry stood there, stunned and gaping. Emma’s smile vanished instantly.
“Now let’s hear from people who actually got hurt,” I said, nodding toward the back of the room.
The construction manager led four injured workers onto the stage. Their bandages, arm slings, and bruises told the real story without any
words needed.
“This man had his left hand crushed by a steel pipe Jerry swung at him,” I said, pointing to the first worker. “This one’s got a broken nose.
And this guy was clawed across his chest until he bled.”
I turned to face Jerry directly. “Mr. Mitchell, can you show us your injuries? Got any medical reports? Any proof at all?”
The room went dead silent. All those reporters and audience members who’d been giving Jerry sympathetic nods suddenly found their
shoes fascinating. Nobody wanted to make eye contact with me.
I could feel Blake watching me from his hiding spot. Three years ago, I would’ve crumbled under this pressure. Would’ve needed him to swoop in and save me. Not anymore. That thought made me stand even taller.
Jerry finally broke the silence. “Okay, fine, I might’ve gotten a bit physical at the construction site,” he mumbled. “But you gotta understand, I was upset! They were taking my family’s property!”
“Physical?” I repeated. “You call attacking workers with a crowbar ‘getting a bit physical’?”
“It’s understandable!” Jerry shouted. ‘Nouvelle forced us to sell our home at a crap price! Anyone would lose it!”
I didn’t respond. Instead, I stepped off the stage and walked toward the back of the room. Everyone watched, wondering what I was doing.
I returned with an elderly couple and a young woman about Victoria’s age. Jerry’s eyes widened, his expression shifting from defiant to
horrified in two seconds flat.
“You… you two old fossils! What the hell are you doing here?” he sputtered.
The young woman took the microphone. “I’m Rebecca Mitchell. These are my grandparents, and unfortunately, this man is my relative
too.”
People started whispering to each other.
“Nouvelle didn’t steal our home, Rebecca continued. “They saved my grandparents’ lives. Arya paid fair market value for the property, then brought medical specialists from Europe when local doctors had given up on Grandpa’s heart condition.”

Chapter 181
Jerry lunged toward her. “Shut your mouth! You’re lying!”
Security stepped between them immediately.
Rebecca stood firm. All while Jerry gambled away family money and threatened my grandparents for more cash. He’s not here because of
injustice. He’s here to blackmail Arya for money.”
The room’s mood completely flipped. The high-society crowd and reporters who’d been ready to crucify me were now staring at Jerry with
disgust.
Emma stood there turning ghost-white, mortification washing over her face.
“This is ridiculous,” Emma jumped in, desperate to salvage something. “How do we know this woman isn’t being paid to say this stuff?”
Jerry grabbed onto Emma’s lifeline. “Exactly! Rebecca isn’t even a real Mitchell! My parents adopted her from an orphanage twenty years ago when she was dumped there. She’s got no real ties to the family!”
He pointed at Rebecca and me. “She’s been bought off! Don’t fall for their BS! This whole thing is staged!”
The Mitchell grandparents had stayed quiet until now, but the grandfather stepped forward, his voice shaking with anger.
*Jerry, when will your evil and shamelessness end?” The old man’s voice carried across the room without a microphone. “You abused us, tried to steal our medical insurance money, and now you show your face here?”
The grandmother joined in. “Arya and Rebecca have been our angels. They visit us weekly, making sure we have everything we need. While you, our own son, treat us worse than dirt!”
Mr. Mitchell pointed a trembling finger at Jerry. “This cold-blooded monster is not my son anymore. Don’t let him fool any of you!”
The elderly couple was getting worked up. I gently helped them to seats nearby, then took the microphone again.
