The CEO's Regret: His Lost Wife's Secret Twins novel Chapter 162

Chapter 162

🙂

Richard laughed, completely contradicting his usual penny-pinching businessman persona. “If any of Aurora’s gems fall off, Grandpa will

buy more and bigger ones!”

I thought to myself that if Richard’s business buddies heard him talk this way, they’d demand a DNA test to prove it was really him.

Aurora, used to her grandfather’s spoiling, examined the sparkling shoes with pure joy. She pouted adorably, “Grandpa and Grandma gave me shoes, and the nice man gave me shoes too… I got too many pretty shoes! I dunno which ones to wear first!”

Richard and Elaine exchanged curious glances. “What man gave you shoes, sweetie?” Richard asked.

“Just someone we ran into,” I answered vaguely, worried that mentioning Blake would set them off. Richard and Elaine had hated Blake with a passion since everything went down three years ago.

They were too jet-lagged to push it, just saying they were happy Aurora had made a new friend.

“I like that man a lot!” Aurora declared innocently. “But I don’t have ’nuff feet for all these shoes!”

William, always the problem-solver, suggested, “You can wear different shoes each day. Then you can use all of them.”

Aurora’s eyes widened. “Oh! That’s super smart!”

I noticed William’s protective instinct-he too wanted to shield his grandparents from learning about Blake Morgan.

Later, Richard pulled me aside in the garden. “We couldn’t find a bone marrow match for William in the European registries either.”

My heart sank. “I get it. Thanks for trying, Dad.”

Richard squeezed my shoulder reassuringly. “William’s condition is stable for now. And once Blake and Emma tie the knot and pop out some kids… I’ll find a way to get cord blood from their babies!”

‘I understand,” I said, keeping my voice steady while my mind raced. I needed to make sure Blake and Emma’s wedding happened-not just for my peace of mind, but for William’s life.

Then I got a call from Nina, Aurora’s dance teacher, in my office.

“Hi, Aurora’s mom, just wanted to give you a heads-up. Emma came by asking about Aurora’s training schedule. She’s trying to steal her away as a student.”

I thanked Nina politely for the info. After hanging up, my expression hardened. Emma was clearly targeting my daughter to get back at

“We’ll expose Emma’s fake Nina’s star pupil brand, I told Jessica in my office. “Nina publicly declared at the dance competition that her

favorite student is someone else entirely. Emma’s built her whole image on this lie. The backlash will be brutal.”

Jessica nodded approvingly. “Aria, you’re honestly something else-brains and beauty in one package!”

*And you’re a professional butt-kisser,” I replied with a small smile. “How are the preparations for the Scott family art exhibition going?”

Jessica lowered her voice. “Something weird is happening with the Scott exhibition. All the equipment and staff we need just appeared

out of nowhere. And we’re talking top-of-the-line, premium everything.”

I froze, my expression hardening. Blake was behind this. He’d learned subtlety. I’d thought the recent quiet meant he’d backed off, but he

was just being strategic.

“Reject all of it,” I said firmly. “We’ll find our own equipment and people.”

Jessica looked confused and concerned. “Are you worried about owing someone? Back in Europe, we helped partner companies all the time.

This isn’t that different.”

“No, this is completely different,” I insisted.

Jessica didn’t push further. She left to handle the Emma situation and reject the mysterious resources.

Alone in my office, I closed my eyes and let out a deep breath. It was almost funny how Blake was trying to worm his way into my work life. Back when I worked for him, he never made anything easy for me. As his employee, I had to handle everything myself and would get chewed out if anything wasn’t perfect. Yet Emma always got the special treatment, the consideration, the help that made her life easier.

Now he was giving me what he’d once reserved for her. Men were so predictable. They never valued what was right in front of them.
