Chapter 17

Inside the TBD luxury shopping mall.

As soon as she walked into the dry-cleaning shop, a young staff member smiled and bowed, reaching out to take the floral quilt from her.

Elise said, “Thank you, I’ll do it myself.”

After all, there was a smell.

She did not want to see the expression of disgust on anyone’s face. That would hurt her.

The receptionist wearing a white mask, after hearing her request, reassured her.

“Please don’t worry. Let us take a look first. There will definitely be a solution.”

Elise’s tense nerves eased slightly.

The receptionist spread the quilt out for inspection, and then her gently curved brows gradually tightened.

Kai just happened to be inspecting the store that day.

When he saw the customer was Elise, his narrow eyes slightly narrowed.

He had only heard that the eldest daughter of the White family was a stunning beauty, but had never seen her in

person.

At this moment, she was only dressed in a minimalist white shirt, jeans, and flat white sneakers, yet her clean, refreshing aura was obvious.

Her long black hair fell straight, her lips were red, her eyes clear, truly like a beauty stepping out of a painting.

Kai briefly and unrestrainedly looked her over, then withdrew his gaze.

He said to the manager, “Find a way to clean it properly.”

Elise’s eyes turned slightly red with gratitude, and she thanked them repeatedly.

The elevator on the sixth floor was taking too long.

She took the stairs up instead.

On reaching the sixth floor, she noticed workers moving things out of Unit 601 next door.

Someone inside was directing them.

“Take everything that can be moved out of this house. Leave nothing behind except your footprints… The renovation crew will come tomorrow. No delays- the eldest heir moves in ten days.”

Elise only glanced inside.

Unit 601 was much larger than her Unit 602, a middle unit with an estimated three bedrooms.

More than a dozen people in uniform were working in an orderly manner, each assigned their tasks.

She walked forward and reached her own door, lowering her head to search for her keys in her bag.

A voice came from behind her.

“Hello.”

Elise turned around.

A kind-looking man in his fifties handed her a large red envelope with both hands.

“The renovation of Unit 601 may be a bit noisy these days. We appreciate your understanding.”

Elise smiled faintly. “It’s fine. I’m rarely at home during the day.”

“Please accept this red envelope.”

“No need, thank you.”

Just then, there were bottles of mineral water on the cabinet by the door that Chloe had bought for her.

Elise took them and handed them to the man and the

workers as a gesture.

The man said something strange under his breath.

“No wonder she’s the one the old lady likes.”

with two large bags.

She quickly took one from her and opened the door for

her.

After closing the door, Chloe kicked off her shoes and immediately started complaining.

“What kind of people live in 601? No sense of public decency at all. I waited five minutes for the elevator downstairs, and when it finally came, it was packed with stuff. If I wanted to take it, I’d have to wait another five

minutes.”

“I didn’t have the patience, so I took the stairs. Damn it, carrying these two bags up to the sixth floor almost made my legs give out. I feel completely drained.”

Elise liked listening to Chloe talk. It helped her relax completely.

She sat on the sofa and patted the seat beside her. “Come here and lie down. I’ll massage you as compensation for ‘work injury.””

She stretched her long, straight legs onto Elise’s lap.

Elise’s massage technique was not forceful. It had a steady, resilient pressure.

Chloe let out a comfortable groan.

Elise said helplessly, “There are people next door in 601. We’ll be misunderstood like this.”

“Let them misunderstand… I’d be willing to spend my next life with you.”
