When Celeste heard this, she was about to respond when Trevor spoke first, "Your mom is busy with work. Don't bother her."
Jordyn pouted unhappily and looked up at Celeste with puppy-dog eyes.
Celeste said, "I have a meeting at the company, and then I need to go to another company for business. It's not convenient to bring you along—maybe next time, okay?"
Hearing that, Jordyn sounded a little down but eventually let go. "Okay..."
Since Martha hadn't woken up and there was nothing more to say, Betty left with Celeste when she departed.
Inside the elevator, Betty said calmly, "He's not worried that Jordyn will disturb your work. He's worried she'll be seen by someone familiar if she goes to your company with you, right?"
Celeste understood what she meant.
If word got out that she and Trevor were still legally married, it would affect Wynn first and foremost.
To protect Wynn, Trevor would naturally keep the fact that he and his "ex-wife" were not officially divorced tightly under wraps until the paperwork was finalized.
Once downstairs, Celeste watched as Betty's car left before she turned and got into her own car.
At the hospital entrance, Beck had just arrived and immediately recognized Celeste's silhouette as she got into the car.
He instinctively wanted to call out to her, but Celeste had already driven out of the exit.
Beck swallowed his words.
Miles walked around from the driver's side and patted Beck on the shoulder. "Why are you spacing out? Let's go."
Beck snapped out of it and headed upstairs with Miles.
When they arrived, Jordyn greeted them cheerfully. "Mr. Harper, Mr. Quinton!"
Beck smiled and reached out to ruffle Jordyn's hair, then placed the fruit basket he brought on the side table.
At that moment, he noticed the gift that Celeste and Betty had brought earlier. A small card with Celeste's handwritten get-well message for Martha was clearly visible.
Seeing her familiar handwriting, Beck felt a wave of warmth in his chest and stared at the small card signed "Cel" in a daze.
Noticing him standing there frozen, Miles called out to him, "Beck, come sit down. What are you looking at?"
"Sure."
Trevor handed the phone to Jordyn.
"Is it Wynn?" she asked.
"Mhm."
Jordyn quickly took the phone and said sweetly, "Wynn..."
Miles scratched his nose when he realized it was Wynn on the phone.
Before arriving earlier, he had asked Trevor over the phone whether Wynn would be coming to visit Martha.
Trevor had said she wouldn't.
It was later that he found out Queenie had already laid down the rules the night before, clearly stating that Wynn was not allowed to visit Martha.
Queenie's exact words were—"Don't bring any random outsiders into the hospital room to disturb your grandmother's recovery."
