“I just had dinner with Dad outside, so I’m not hungry.” After answering, Jordyn pulled away from Betty and tiptoed toward Celeste. “Mom, hug me!”
Celeste bent down to pick her up. Even though she caught a faint whiff of perfume on her daughter’s clothes, her expression remained unchanged.
This time, Trevor didn’t personally drop Jordyn off.
She had left the car door open after getting out, so the driver stepped out to close the door before nodding to -Celeste and Betty in greeting. Then, he left.
Since Jordyn had school the next day, she didn’t stay up long after arriving. After taking a bath, she went straight to bed.
